I need to keep up posting stuff lol, work was rough for a bit but ANYWAY here’s a ref for one of my characters Rot because I’m thinking about them rn.

Lore dump aka big ramble hours

Rot(they/it/he) is a god, a god of the cycle of life/nature. Death causes life in the form of decay/rot(plants benefit) and of predation(dead thing feeds other things). They are not The God of Nature, The God of Life, or The God of Death but rather the balance in between of all of them. They started out representing this idea more of the whole Balance of Life, keeping animal food chains in check, making sure plants had good opportunities to survive. But as humans started to pollute the earth(dating back even as far as the mass killing of predators in England) and screw up this cycle they become more of a god of Rot(hence the name). It struggles with its hatred of humans because as a God in this universe they are meant to help humans along with the world/whatever their godship is about. So the other gods, their friend Mama the Fertility Goddess in particular, are not fans of its negativity to humans.

Personality-wise they seem to be more introverted, sticking to itself. It doesn’t even seem to like having any followers or worshipers(it least they don’t put any effort in. Most of their worshipers are just weird hippies) they love the arts, from music, to painting and sculpture, to theater. Their favorite attributes of humans is the ability to create. Rot may specialize in something dying to make something new but humans can take something already existing and turn it into something new and to them that’s beautiful. Queer people specifically have been a favorite of his, the way they adorn themselves or change themselves in their own image, separate from other humans, is so amazing to them. Even the selective breeding of things like plants and animals is so cool to it(minus of course inbreeding and the problem ridden breeds we have of animals and plants). They have a more dry sense of humor, which they also do love humor(to many peoples surprise). Often they take more joy in either making a bad joke people groan at, or saying something it finds funny with a straight face and having people have a delayed reaction. Rot loves any animal hated by people. All the creepy crawlies, all the uglies, he loves the unloved. This extends to bugs as well, his favorite being carrion beetle larvae and millipedes.(parasites don’t completely fall under this however. So things like ticks, mosquitoes, and intestinal worms he does not like. He values their place in the holy cycle of nature, but feels they are currently unbalanced and causing too much pain due to it.)

Rot’s feelings towards humans nearly caused an apocalypse. Rot is able to make diseases to help with the balance of things. Got too much of one animal somewhere and no predators around meant to deal with that animal? Well plague is the next option down unfortunately. He only makes the idea/baby version of a disease, not the mutations after(if you have ever played plague inc think about it like playing with the Virus on there, he can tweak it to make it do certain things but it naturally adds onto itself and mutates). At one point he was planning on making a human specific illness that would kill off large numbers of them, with no human made cure. It was meant as a punishment for humanity, he would’ve stopped it before it killed everyone, or would’ve stopped it once humans learned their lesson. (Artist/creator note. This idea was ripped completely from Sweet Tooth, a show I highly recommend people to watch, it has animal hybrid kids in an illness caused apocalypse and cool use or practical effects!) Mama however cornered it about this and warned them in no uncertain terms that “it would learn why people had a level of fear for her”. This threat from the usually very sweet and bubbly diety caused them to back off.

Still feeling unfulfilled Rot found a smaller different work around for punishing humans that also satisfied the God’s love of art. Body Horror Monsters. Instead of punishing humans as a whole and jeopardizing a lot of things, it picked off a few one by one. These ones he selected would become distorted monsters, a fate worse than death. These caused more than a few cryptid sightings. Some of these monsters were mindless, the human seemingly completely gone, even being used as extra hands for Rot, just tools basically. But some retained some or even all of their human mind. In particular rot created a whole herd of these ones with their whole human mind in tact in the form of the Not-Deer(an SCP/cryptid I am particularly fond of) resembling a deer with wrong proportions and a hatred for being called out for it. They have the ability to speak(somewhat, it’s not known to what degree they can speak, they attempt to blend in with normal deer most of the time. But people have heard them call out for help or say peoples names) and to whistle. They often look as if either a child drew a deer, or an artist who has only drawn predators and/or humans drew a deer. They have been sighted standing on their hind legs and attempting to acquire weapons or anything sharp. Rot let these guys loose in the woods and just kinda, let them be.

And that’s about all I can think to write down about this dude. I may post more art of him soon with a possible different design(not fully, I’m thinking about giving it tusks tho and maybe an alternative design pre human pollution) shout out to whoever made it this far in my ramblings, I tip my hat to you, I cannot shorten things down at all and in the age of Ai summaries I refuse to.

How about a little introduction of my character Sona to start this Blog!

This is Helios and he represents what I’m all about! Don’t confuse him for the rest of my OCs tho! He’s his own entity apart form the “Children of Stars” universe!

He’s a friendly Space god that travels the universe seeking out friends and nature! He is expressive and feels deeply the emotions of others. He wants the best for everyone and sometimes losses sight of what’s best for himself. Tho he is gentle in nature he harbors a darker side of the universe. After all, just like the universe, light shines, brightest against the darkness. For matter there is also antimatter just as there is “Chasm” to Helios.

Chasm currently is represented in the Horn that has taken shape where once a wing was. Locked away within by a powerful sealing spell. It will not last forever and so it is up to Helios to grow and face this inner demon. Just as we mature in life, Helios is learning how to make peace with the Chasm inside, and accept himself for all the good and bad qualities that exist within himself. To find balance for not only him, but the forces of the Universe he governs.
