Toyagumon! A long time favorite of mine.
TOY AGUMON
CLUB: toy digimon club
STYLE: toyland simplicity
THOUGHTS:
simple, wonderful design that caters to me personally. same concept as yugioh's block dragon and blockman monsters but i never tire of it. it's nice how well the proportions match vanilla agumon while still being extremely blocky. it's giving cute ducky also.

SYAKOMON/SHAKOMON
CLUB: the people munchers
STYLE: monstro parasite cage
THOUGHTS:
perfect. from the crinkly rabbit ears to the veiny flesh throughout its shell it's a perfect cute/nasty split. so often a design gets bunny ears or a kitty mouth and I roll my eyes like it can feel so desperate - but there are a handful of digimon that pair those traits with some real nasty organic horror flavor and it really really works.

LOPMON
CLUB: the world eaters
STYLE: evil twin streetwear
THOUGHTS:
aside from the inexplicable tiny fingers lopmon and terriermon are missing definition. theyre definitely cute but i don't think they stand out among other full-cute mascots. i could like a lot of the conceptual stuff going on with this line but in the end it just doesn't land for me, really.

SHOESHOEMON
CLUB: movie club (fav movie: hoodwinked)
STYLE: bomb rush cyber-munk
THOUGHTS:
tough to evaluate individually outside of their incredibly cool themed evo line. I really love how they manage to be an obvious mid-point (the hair, the rodent features becoming more of a mask, etc) without feeling like less complete of a design of their own.
I do get a little skeeved when I think too much about the logistics of the fringe on top of the head.
the stitching, the big shoes, the safety pin, the wide array colors, it all makes for a quintessential digimon design. it's a little overcomplicated but mostly in a cool graphic art way. I don't normally like rodents (or bandanas on furries) but shoeshoemon makes it work well.

MAGNAGARURUMON
CLUB: hyper scalers

THOUGHTS:
I won't lie to you at first I was shocked at how bad this design looked, but upon further research it's definitely one of those designs that is made or broken by its pose and model. consider the following renders compared to the original official art shown above:
these renders definitely showcase what people like about this design better while also giving the mechanical parts more weight.
all that said this design is not my favorite. I'm not partial to wolves but I can respect that the wolfs head is a mandatory genetic component of being in the garurumon family. it's awesome and stupid that this is a mostly typical human silhouette with a wolf flying a plane instead of an upper torso. idk. it's good fun. maybe it's growing on me.

THOUGHTS:
one of my weaknesses as a person is that I'm very fond of cowboy and vaquero imagery. this design is so idiotic it wraps back around to being awesome. bonus points for vivi eyes.

CLUB: digital shuffleboard league
STYLE: bad grandpa
THOUGHTS:
raises a lot of questions about the digimon world that will never be consistently or safisfyingly answered. i hate the feet but it's not because of how they affect the design. i don't like this stinky grandpa but as far as stinky grandpas go it doesn't get much better.
