I have a friend who is a song writer and won a grammy. Basically as the song goes through revisions and reviews by the label each writer, even if they just change a word or line gets a writing credit. Unless they agree to be paid as a ghost writer.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. If I take it to a shop they should be able to test all of the connexions and figure it out.
Meanwhile I still have an amp and now I can play my electric guitar with an amp for the first time in the nearly 20 years I've owned it.

It has a little plate on the back and I unscrewed that and it's just wires and stuff and I don't see any other place where you might reasonably expect to put a battery.
