This one smelled of death even from this far away, a scent he was too familiar with. He had watched her move across the opposing sidewalk while he kept his own form assumed the guise of someone checking the time impatiently on his watch for a meeting he didn’t need to wait for.
The woman didn’t look familiar despite the fact that she seemed to hold a familiarity towards her surroundings. Had she been here before or was it the fact that something else reminded him of something? He couldn’t tell. There was something sinking beneath the surface of that scent, one that was enticing him to play with her. A person like her must contain amusement he could dabble in before he would venture back into the Dark Place for the writer for tonight. Hell, he might get a bit more than just his usual fun if the girl was gullible enough for it but for now, he was going to focus on just toying with the girl.
The sun was going down as he stepped away before the light post brightened up, making him twirl elegantly from the spotlight. It wasn’t going to burn him, but he wasn’t going to waste his energy on anything minimal.
“Hey there,” he called out in a false welcoming manner, jogging up towards her as he checked the road before crossing to catch up to her. “Haven’t seen you here before? Got a name?”
