what do james and lily do after the story ends? how did they react to skylar infecting himself with the vitaedax? did they ever try to make up for their mistakes with adrian? ahhh so many questions... speaking of, if kind of bothers me that sky infected himself when there was really no need to (the prophecy would have been fulfilled if he stabbed adrian with the basilisk fang right?) it seemed like sky was trying to make amends for harry’s terrible childhood and experiences with his (cont.)
(cont.) birth family but it really wasn’t sky’s fault at all... lily and james made huge mistakes and sure sky contributed to the problem, but he was a child who just believed what his parents told him, he can’t be blamed for believing he was special when that’s what he’s been told his whole life. (continued....) sky was inherently good and we even see that he was horrified when he realized what he did to harry (as he should be), but it was just the ramblings of a child who didn’t know any better, in contrast to james and lily who are adults and even had their mistakes spelled out for them... oops this is a bit long ANYWAY i love these characters to death thank u for writing antithesis.
Wow you really just came into my Anon with a whole thesis planned out and a really elaborate critical thought process that places me in a fun situation.
So, you hit two points right off the bat.
The first explanation I can give is that I shot myself in the foot with the prophecy. Ironically, I only thought about making the prophecy a double prophecy in the...second to last chapter. If I had better intentions beforehand and actually Wrote ahead, I would have fixed the flaw that is Skylar’s stupid reasoning for taking on the parasite. In a perfect world, I would have made it more of a willing contraction in the fight, but it was just me not planning ahead.
The second point is what happens to Lily and James after. The main message I tried to stress is how you don’t have to forgive someone for doing a bad thing to you. There’s no obligation to forgive someone, even if they’re family. Skylar is a good person. He recognized his parents tried their best but utterly messed up. He doesn’t forgive them.
Skylar was a good person, you gave no idea how hard it was to make sure he stayed a good person.
