Process:
Got MIDI to Pump It, Black Eyed Peas. Split guitar parts into sections and made a bank of guitar samples. Edited some samples MIDI to different pitches to make other samples. Arranged an 8 bar guitar line. Found drum machine and wrote out a kick drum track which I quantized, copied and pasted onto another drum kit track for double kick. EQed the drums. Mixed volumes in controller. Went through other original tracks and picked out two bass synths and a sample from a trumpet line. Edited those tracks into samples. Looped one bass synth line. Recorded additional bass synth line and added the trumpet line to this instrument, transposed -24 steps (two octaves). Edited note lengths and pitch bending in controller. EQed bass synth. Created a synth sequence. Added decrescendo and more reverb to last bars of sequence. Added in one of my bass line samples. Composed a new “boom clap” drum beat. Added last bass synth sample. EQed and changed Tape Delay settings in Plug-ins for last clap.
I had a lot of fun making thins song. If I had unlimited time I would tweak more EQ settings, change a few bars, add lots of random cool samples, and probably have vocals of some sort.
