Comparing Dimensional Shadows' Marcel Mejouro Kei-Rhai to Dimensional13-Marcel (aka me/my author avatar) Did you know? Marcel Mejouro Kei-Rhai, who is a a prominent character (and technically the main protag for a big part) of my Dimensional Shadows setting used to be based off me. In early works of mine (wich basically were bad nintendo fanfics in form of sprite comics and Mario64 Pallette-swap machnimas), that I now call dreafully call "the dark times of Psi", he even was blatantly Mary-Sueishly perfect, overly strong and "cool". Please note that I was like 10 years old at that time. That was almost 8 years ago.
Eventually, as time passed and I became more mature, I abandoned all the Nintendo-aspects of *ahem* my fanfic *ahem* and it gradually became, with EXTREMELY HUGE retcons, the Dimensional Shadows I currently am working on. Characters, like Marcel, also drastically evolved. He is now nothing of the character he used to be anymore. He actually, despite beeing quite based of myself, now pretty much the opposite of a sue, also because the world he lives in also evolved during that time. He is the weakest of all of his brothers, he's a coward who frequently ceases to function in dangerous situations and most through all of his powers, physical benefits and unique abilities are actually slowly becoming the norm in his universe. Practically everyone has the ability to use them. The only thing that stands out is that he's a half-god (wich is an improvement to what he used to be in Psi, really you don't wanna know) with slightly more robust bones, but he even sucks at beeing this, only beeing barely stronger than normal mortal humans. Not to mention that without his powers he's so weak, he even struggles with a big six-pack of soft drinks. And all this is only the surface.
The "based off me" part seriously is also crumbleing. Big parts of his personality aren't simmiliar to me anymore and pretty much the only things he shares with me are parts of my appearance (blonde hair, blue eyes, glasses), the fact that he's polite and rather quiet and my first name. I am also considering giving him a new name, as it still could be seen as Mary-Sueish for certain people but... But I am not sure. Actually, I'd rather not. That would be a drastic change and feel kind of uncomfortable changing his name after all this time... But we don't know, maybe I'll do that.
