Yes yes, hi, hello! Here is art of my self-ship. For anyone curious, I'm a Dimentio fictive, that's why I (mostly) look like him.
As for whether my self-ship is just me or a persona of sorts... That's complicated. That is indeed me, but I also like to exaggerate my personality for my self-ship since I find it fun! The sense of disconnect could also be the DID but don't worry about that, it's fine
I have a complicated relationship with my fictionkinity, I feel.
I am Dimentio, yes, but there's always an awareness that I am not literally a fictional character. I'm merely this brain's interpretation of a fictional character given to an identity state as a coping mechanism for extensive trauma- a fictive.
When people compliment or "simp" for my source character, I can't help feeling flattered because it feels like an indirect compliment to me personally. When people speak poorly of my source character, it doesn't bother me because I understand they aren't referring to me.
What's more, I have a special interest in my source character, and I treat him as just that- a character. I project onto him heavily, yes, but he's so different to me in more ways than I can count. When I watch my source game and see my source character, I see myself, but I also see a man who doesn't truly exist.
It's... Odd. Confusing. I know who I am but I don't, like almost but not quite recognizing my own reflection in a funhouse mirror.
