I’m from a world named Alrest, where someone with fins for ears are still considered human despite not looking like what people of this other world we ended up in would typically consider a normal human. I myself have cat ears like any other Gormotti, and Gormotti folks are similarly also considered humans. My personal feelings towards this is considerably stronger when compared to how the others see it, and the feline features I have doesn’t change that. If I’m a human back there, why can’t I be seen as a human here? It’s just a few cat-like traits, no biggie.

I mean sure, it’s later revealed that I was actually not born as a human. I’m actually a flesh-eater, a blade infused with human cells, making me a hybrid of both. Despite this, I still identify more as a human than as a blade. I mean sure, it’s neat to have my blade powers, but I really don’t like some of the other stuff that comes with it. That only makes me lean towards humanity even more, even when the reveal shows that I’ve technically never been a “pure” human or whatever.

I don’t even care that I’m not what is considered a “normal human” here in this world because of the ears, or even Alrest due to my history, at least I’m here with people who do accept me as human too.

kinda questioning being c!Grian in a fictionhearted way, if that makes sense? as a watcher, his backstory is very relatable, and I just feel very connected to him in general. and also, as an avian, since I'm a bird as well.

It's not exactly like in a kin way, as in, I'm not him (I'm a different watcher and a different Player, maybe in a past life, mayhaps?), I just have a connection to him, I think. the concept of a runaway watcher without his memories, an avian without a flock, him finding refuge in hermitcraft after being taken by watchers and slowly thriving into their little family... it's inspiring to me, and something I aim to do.

I will give it a few weeks, tho, to see how it feels. I don't want to jump into it too quickly and end up being wrong, but the idea is very appealing

do you read fic of yourselves, or is it too annoying when people are wrong or is it just weird in general?

Sometimes we'll read heavily curated and carefully vetted smut fics of ourselves.

For the most part, yeah, it's weird in general and annoying when people are wrong so we stay away from plot heavy or long fics. The longer they are, the more likely to be something that's offputting.

That's the reason why mostly we write about our sources, and mostly we read about media that we're not related to.

Fictionfolk culture is not realizing you are The Character until recently because none of the more popular otherkin terms really fit how you feel despite the fact you've been been using The Character's name and general aesthetics and such as a core part of your identity for years and always felt more authentically yourself when leaning into that. Especially when you're pretty sure you already figured out what kind of otherkin you are that conflicts with the fictionfolk bit a tad.
