So, the dining philosophers problem... Can someone please explain to me why those philosophers insist on eating with two forks?
No one needs two forks to eat, learn to use one fork like normal human beings and we can all go home
i love this operating systems textbook a lot both because dinosaurs and because it's really well-written and makes things intuitive
but also because it contains some out-of-programming-context lines like
"We note, however, that it is possible for a philosopher to starve to death. We do not present a solution to this problem but rather leave it as an exercise for the reader."

Thursday May 17, 2012

Tuesday May 15, 2012 - Wednesday May 16, 2012
Tuesday
watched nyaruko 6
played some tf2
worked on that dining philosophers thing but java decided it didn't want to work. Uninstalled all the java things and eclipse and then reinstalled them but it still wouldn't work so I was just like ugh fine I'll just install linux, because it usually works just fine on linux
opened up old computer, took out the hard drive and put it into this computer
did all the partitioning and setup for arch linux on the hard drive
installed kde, changed some settings
found out that I don't really like kde. It looks really nice but I mean, I dunno. It's not really my thing; waaay too much extraneous stuff going on and I don't feel like trying to figure out how to disable them.
Wednesday
watched seitokai yakuindomo ova3
uninstalled kde, installed gnome. It is pretty nice.
pretty much spent the rest of the day configuring various settings (for some reason I find that to be fun)
oh wow is that really all I did today? I guess it is.
