Track Talk
I thought it might be worth building a glossary of terms we use regularly when track building. We know what we mean when we say 'dinky donk', but do you? Come closer and we'll share a little track talk...
First off, a simple turn is just that:
Then we have a tight bend:
There are curvy pieces that elevate up and down with bridges...
...and junctions that allow you to make a branch line or a siding:
But if you were to pose the question in our house "What is your favorite track piece?", I think, without question, it would be the great and wonderful dinky-donk. What's a dinky-donk? Well, it's a connector that allows two 'open holes' to bind together. Still not sure... it's probably easiest to just show you...
We hope that this Track Talk lets you feel closer to the track making process. We will endeavor to periodically do more sessions like this to build a bigger and bigger track of vocabulary in your mind. Until next time... we will be keeping track.
