Clexa/ headache, lightening, arguments
Lexa pushed her index fingers against her temples and made slow circles. She was sitting alone in the large throne room going over her last conversation with Clarke. She closed her eyes and was slightly surprised with how easily she could recall Clarke’s face.
She saw Clarke’s bright blue eyes narrowed in aggravation and her jaw set tight as she stared up at Lexa.
“You’re putting my people at risk and I can’t let that happen.”
Lexa stood up and took a step down closer to Clarke.
“They are our people, Clarke. Remember?” Lexa was trying to extinguish the flames she saw building behind Clarke’s eyes before things got out of hand.
“Putting a kill order out on our people isn’t helping Arkadia become more loyal to the coalition.” Clarke’s words were pointed as she crossed her arms tightly over her chest.
“What would you have me do when Pike stands in defiance? He is trying to lead a revolt and I cannot let that happen.”
“ Eliminate Pike without putting others in danger.” Clarke argued, her face turning red as her frustration started to grow stronger.
“Clarke, you need to trust me…” Lexa started, but Clarke held up her hand to stop her.
“Don’t ask me to do that, not right now.” Clarke didn’t wait for Lexa to respond, turning and walking out of the room.
Lexa opened her eyes and pulled her fingers away from her head. Things had been rough, to say the least, since Clarke had decided to stay in Polis. She hated the arguments they had, which usually ended with a stabbing reminder that Clarke still couldn’t trust Lexa.
A crack of thunder outside stirred Lexa from her thoughts. It was late and dwelling on things she couldn’t control would do her no good. She had always made the best decisions for her people since becoming Heda. Lexa had to continue to lead with her head and not her heart if she wanted to be the leader her people needed.
Lexa walked back to her room, still deep in thought as she opened the heavy door and started to remove her jacket. She froze with it halfway on when she saw someone sitting down near her bed.
“Lexa,” Clarke stood up and pursed her lips together. “I’m sorry I got so upset earlier. The truth is…” Clarke looked down at her hands before finishing. “The truth is I do trust you.”
Clarke walked over to where Lexa was still standing frozen, one arm still in her jacket.
“It scares me how much I trust you.” Clarke continued.
Lexa finally took off her jacket and draped it over the chair next to her.
“I’m glad you trust me, Clarke. I would never do anything to put you….your people in danger.” Lexa stumbled, trying to correct her mistake and hoping Clarke didn’t notice.
“Our people.” Clarke smiled, stopping just a foot away from Lexa.
Lexa smiled back and felt her hands shaking. Clarke had never been in her private chambers before. She was about to try and say something when a flash of light bathed the room. A loud crack soon followed and Lexa saw Clarke stiffen at the sound.
“Are you alright?” Lexa asked, walking over to Clarke and putting a comforting hand on her arm.
“I’m still getting use to the storms. We never had those on the Ark.” Clarke explained, and Lexa could tell she was a little ashamed of her reaction.
“Would-would you like to stay here tonight?” Lexa had no idea where the words had come from and now that she had said them there was no turning back.
Clarke stared at Lexa for a long moment before responding, “I’d like that. Maybe we could talk more about everything.”
“I’d like that, too.” Lexa smiled.
