Dinner Conversation
"Pass the Salt" is the only phrase heard at this table now days. Once a place where a newlywed couple smiled at each other as they shared the events of their days; now only a realm of Luke warm meals that reflected their feelings towards each other as years of marriage begin to take their tole.
Lost among the day to day, there is still love there but it's not the same. Talks of decorative flowers in the center case has become visual thorns spreading across the dinning area. Times of wine and trying to feed each other by candle light only now are a memory as each year the table seems to become longer in is distance across the share room.
When they do talk it's only to keep up pleasantries or to not hear only the clicking of knives and forks upon the dinner plates. Let's talk not about how things have changed between us and how we are literally growing apart, instead let's address the Salt and pepper shakers on how empty or full they are today. Let's speak on how the spaghetti and meat say we needs to be reheated a pit and how the garlic toast is very buttery.
As per usual, only 10 to 15 minutes pass as they feel that this is an eternity sitting in one place together where as before in another life they would share hours in each others arms. The dishes cleared, the table once again empty until their next meal time... I'd say the dinner conversations like so much more between them has officially died.
