Can I hear more about your warframe au? It sounds interesting:)
of course! i don’t get asked this a lot (probably bc i also don’t post jack shit about it) so this gets me really giddy asdjksfhjkh. i honestly don’t know where to start, but since i’ve talked about the characters in the last one, maybe let’s start this one with the world building...
you might’ve noticed that in the warframe fan community there’s some sort of soft divide between people who thinks warframes can’t be individuals--who thinks they’re just mechanized puppets--and people who thinks warframes can be individuals. well, i’m more of the latter, but i like to mix things up a little bit. this isn’t quite solid just yet, but i’m thinking that warframes are made in versions/generations. y’know like how there’s Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, ME, etc?
the earlier versions i like to think are the “independent” versions, the versions that have no operators. i was largely inspired by some of the game’s quests like Limbo Theorem and Sands of Inaros, where it’s kinda implied that the first iteration of warframes (Limbo and Inaros in the quests’ case) seem to be just their own thing. i would like to think that the Stalker belongs to this generation. Asa is on the ass end of this generation, he doesn’t need an operator, but he’s considered a defect of his generation too.
the versions after that had their independence removed, after they tinkered with the operator kids. first, it was only the independence of movement that was removed, meaning the warframes still have their own will, but they can’t move their body without the operator’s will. then the further down the road we go, the less and less independent they’ve become, until they’re literally just...soulless puppets for the operators to use. Asa’s adoptive dad, my Chroma Avi, is semi-independent, he’s one of the versions that has an operator that basically allows him to move, but he still has a mind of his own.
as to why there’re monsterframes or peopleframes...there’re warframes that are made from scratch and they make up the monsterframes. while peopleframes are basically people that are like infused with warframe suits.
so yeah, it’s awkward knowing that my main boy Asa is technically older than his dad, but he was activated much later than Avi, so his brain is less mature than the Chroma.
i run out of general ideas to vomit here, but i hope this is more than enough for now!
