The demands of the Indonesian people!
Nothing beat the sisterhood between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Something heartwarming at last!
People from all around SEA and a few other non-SEA countries began ordering food and drinks in bulk via Grab app, and instead of getting the food delivered to them, they gave away their order to the drivers!
This is really helpful for drivers because:
Orders are slow for these drivers since locals are refraining from spending or outside rioting. These orders help them to still earn money to feed their families + helping fellow drivers.
Some drivers are also part of the riot or doing other community services such as cleaning and fixing destroyed public facilities like the recently burned Halte Senen. Having free food or drinks will boost morale.
If you want to help (since the fight isn't over), all you need is to download the Grab app and follow the directions in the pictures above. Don't push yourself if you can't, spreading this info is already helpful!
Berapa banyak kan, kan, kan
English TL;DR for international peeps:
Pic 1: @barengwarga, an account on twt that specializes on making minute by minute reports on Indonesia's goings-on, made a tweet saying that their post was requested for takedown by Kemkomdigi (Ministry of Communications and Digital.)
Pic 2: The post in question. They reported about a person in Jatinegara, East Jakarta getting shot and beat up afterwards by the police.
Pic 3: An email from X representative about the takedown request. They were quite gracious about it, informing barengwarga about the claim while also respecting their freedom of speech and not taking down the post at once.
Influencers and content creators on IG have their accounts restricted by Meta. They aren't able to post stories or reels or just regular photo posts. The media is silencing them from using their sizable platform to criticize the shitty government or the police.
Racist and hateful buzzers are trying to turn the heat towards the Chinese-descended minority, trying to repeat the 1998's nigh-ethnic 'cleansing'. This MUST NOT happen again! They are Indonesian citizens too, whatever their lineage is.
This is why people turn to international media, because you aren't silenced. Our government has no jurisdiction over you. We're trying to prevent bad history from happening again.
collection of tweets in english about current situation in indonesia part 2
PLEASE READ THIS
There has been a riot happening in Indonesia, a riot of never-before-heard scale.
It is happening because of the unfair raise gotten by the people who works for the government, but, there are also a few anomalies (i dont know what word is best to express what im trying to say as english isnt my first language) spreading misinformation against chinese-indonesian people (im gonna call them chindo for short). Saying that they are the root of this whole problem, and this act as a fuel to a flame that is this riot. This is not the first time something like this happened, in 1998 a riot also broke out that impacted a lot of chindos (my grandma, grandpa, mother, aunts, uncles, and other relatives were a victim of this) as they were antagonized. A lot of stores were robbed, we can't defend ourself. PLEASE DONT LET THAT BE REPEATED. SPREAD AWARENESS
Im gonna show you some picture as more proof of this cruelty.

[7:15 AM, 8/29/2025] Hello everyone, theres been a news spreading on twitter. There are now police acting as normal people to target chindo, kids, and elderly people as a distraction (from the riot) like in '98 tragedy where civilians are attacking other civilians
[7:15 AM, 8/29/2025] There's already a lot of child victims getting tear gas thrown by those police itself, not incoicidentally
Guys, I am near pademangan. They are attacking chindos.
[Translated from top to bottom]
Andre Insomnia1989: GO INTO THESE CHINDOS STORE, ROB THEM IN THE MORNING
Harr!: YOU CAN ROB STORES BUT ONLY THE CHINDOS ONE
zax pluto: ROB THEM SO THAT ITS NOT THE POOR THAT SUFFERS!!!!!!
Again, I am telling EVERYONE that is reading this to SPREAD AWARENESS AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. This racially charged hate crimes are not uncommon and will continue if left untouched.
indonesia is in shambles. Bandung hellish fire is back. People are protesting. Police officers shoots and releasing tear gasses. (Univ) Students cant go out in fear of getting kidnapped. It happened already, people are dissapearing left and right.
Innocent lives who arent even protesters are killed. One was a gojek driver who only there to deliver food. The police car crushed him to death. It was intentional, there's proof of an officer saying, "just hit him" to the driver. All those disgusting pieces of trash said was "sorry".
What do you think people's lives are? Oh so pure officers? Who definitely could do no wrong because their job is """"to protect the civillians"'"""? Is this 21 year old innocent man's live worth just a "sorry"?
All this because us Indonesians are protesting against the corrupt lawmakers who gets fat benefits/allowance?/support from the government using OUR tax money, when they are doing absolutely NOTHING beneficial to the country or even pay taxes at all, while US, has to beat ourselves to death even to serve ourselves a decent meal.
! UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ARE BEING DETAINED WITHOUT REASON !
After the protest in 28 August 2025 caused a death of an innocent gojek worker (online delivery service driver) named Affan Kurniawan, a protest was planned the next day both enraged for the loss of a life and the inequalities we are facing. 29th of August 2025. They (police) are detaining university students without reason. People are disappearing, police are killing, and the house representatives went deaf. Hear us. ID: Video of instagram stories of the protest in UI. There are screenshots posted with information, and the end is a video on the (unnamed) OP's current situation
ID: First instagram story from the video. It shows a parked car with the captions "preperation to kidnap university students" and "insane, no?" With the added location of Stasiun UI-Margonda
ID: Second screenshot from the video. It shows an informative screenshot that (unnamed) OP shared. The information is as goes: Just now Alifa called, university students in Depok has been requested to leave. Police armoured vehicles have been spotted around a few times, said Alifa The trains have been stopped in UI. Can't go home by train Lots of cops around UI ALL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS GO HOME NOW. NO MORE ACTIVITIES AROUND UI The instagram post has a caption from op saying "This is so chaotic honestly.."
ID: The third screenshot in the video showing a text message from a group. It goes as follows: S: "My friends from the law majors got detained by the police because they were walking around with a UI keychain stay safe ya'll" OP: "WHAT? REALLY?" S: "Cover up all identities [sobbing emoji]" R: "OMGGG" S, replying to R: "I swear" S, replying to OP: "I SWEAR"
Indonesia has come a long way as a developing country from when I was a kid, but for all its loud proclamations of "anti korupsi", incidents like these still remain. I will share my own story regarding official and police corruption that happened to me personally earlier this year, when I am able to raise my voice against the trauma that caused it.
It is beyond unacceptable that this sort of thing happens while the average Indonesian can barely feed or house themselves with the constantly rising costs, police corruption and brutality, and a nation RUN BY A MAN DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN THE INDONESIAN OCCUPATIONS OF TIMOR LESTE AND PAPUA. Yeah, you read that right. Read it again, and tell me how a war criminal won a supposedly democratic election fair and square.
So, while your eyes are turned to the human rights violations of the Global North, do not forget that the Global South is also facing threats against democracy, blatant corruption, and an astounding cost of living crisis. If you're going to be loud about the US, I ask that you educate yourselves on the world's biggest archipelago and the governing body that rules it at present. We are NOT okay. Don't let the "digital nomad influencers" on social media make you think Bali is some paradise. It's not. And it's just one island out of MANY that form this country.
HUMAN RIGHTS ARE GLOBAL RIGHTS. SPEAK THE FUCK UP ABOUT INDONESIA.

📍 What’s Happening in Indonesia (2025) And Why People Are Furious
In Aug 2025, Indonesia’s parliament (DPR) quietly passed a massive salary and benefits increase for its members, sparking nationwide anger.
Here’s why:
They claimed the increase was needed to “support performance and dignity of lawmakers” and to ensure they could “focus on serving the people without financial distractions.”
— which includes their base salary, a Rp 50 million monthly housing allowance, communication allowances, oversight allowances, and additional benefits such as rice, fuel, and family support. In contrast, the average Indonesian worker earns only around 3 to 5 million IDR per month (about €170–€280). This extreme wage gap has sparked national outrage, especially as the government also introduced new tax increases that place additional burdens on low-income families, students, and small businesses.
Public anger intensified after several MPs were seen dancing and celebrating in Parliament following the approval of the raise.
Mind you, Indonesia still struggles with poverty, education gaps, and public healthcare access.
And while the people are being told to “tighten their belts,” MPs were caught on video dancing and celebrating in parliament because they’re happy that their salaries are increased! Literally DANCING.
One even made a TikTok-style dance. Another MP called protesting citizens “tolol” a slang term for “stupid.”
This isn’t just about money. It’s about public betrayal.
And then came the tragedy that broke the nation’s heart:
⚠️ A Man Killed During Protests
During the protests in Jakarta, a Gojek driver (Uber but with motorbikes) named Affan Kurniawan was tragically run over by a police armored vehicle. In the video, he was seen tripping and the police vehicle was so fast cutting the rioters mass and hit him. Despite knowing he was under the car, police STILL accelerated the vehicle, while the mass tried helping the poor man. He later died in the hospital.
Another driver was critically injured. No official apology. No accountability. Just another name added to the cost of silence.
That’s why Indonesia is rising up.
Not because people are rebellious. But because the government has stopped listening and started celebrating while people suffer.
It’s not just about a pay raise. It’s about dignity, fairness, and the right to be heard without being killed.
My fellow Indonesians. Share this. Let the truth burn through the lies. These soulless, corrupt elites who eats tax payers money sit safe while innocent people suffer and die. This isn’t a government. It’s a machine of greed and cruelty. Let the world see who they really are.
I’ve been following your art for a while now and I’m a bit confused. What happened to Naomi x Asa and Diana x Gaia. What’s the story with the ships changing? 👀
Its actually a long story😅
But for the short version, I'm bored with Naomi and now focus more on Diana.
At first I paired her with my other friend's oc, Gaia. But we ended up having a bad relationship so we decided to end our friendship (we ended it peacefully).
After that, I spoke again with my friend (Asa's owner) when we started talking about Asa and Diana like "what if they run into each other?", and then they slowly became a thing because they are actually really cute together and their zodiacs are perfect for each other!
As the other half responsible for this ship, I feel the need to add my perspective on this.
By the time Diana/Gaia was a thing, I knew that Tofu was already losing interest in Naomi, but I have no qualms about it. I've roleplayed for a few years, it's normal, these things happen. We never stop being friends and my characters can develop without their OCs' influence.
I was a little skeptical on shipping Asa with another character, even it's also Tofu's OC, but after a delirious experimental RP until 3 AM, we had really great fun?? Like??? These dorks have really natural chemistry!!
It's mostly because we're now both different people to who we were when we first shipped Asa/Naomi, but I definitely felt Asa was developing in a more rounded way than when I was writing him with Naomi. Yeah, that does result in Asa's personality changing into more of a himbo than the hot-head he was initially, but honestly, I prefer that development. I just... don't enjoy writing angry people anymore lmao (because I found solace in the Nioh series)
Oh my god, tumblr app finally has a low contrast "dark mode" of sorts
