oh yeah i kept saying for several months that i'd do this but i didn't so WHILE I'M TAKING A BREAK FROM OTHER THINGS

(this will not be a quality headcanon post sry)

second off i took a quiz on the official inception site and it said i was the point man and i am v v proud of this fact and it's why i've kind of latched onto arthur by accident

third off i'm always somewhat hesitant to have headcanon / write origin fics for certain chars with mysterious pasts such as arthur or eames, moriarty, etc. etc. LIKE part of the fun of the character IS the mystery 

nonetheless it's KIND of inevitable that your brain fills in a lot of info so redacting my third point let's go

haven't given him a last name and probably never will, "arthur" is enough, he's a bit of a drifter so his last name (where he came from) isn't important to him, it's more a chain round his neck, rly, rooting him down. it's more of an official thing on documents like his ss number or blood type, things like that. always introduces himself as "arthur." if people ask for the last name, simply says "it's not important."

he grew up on the upper east side of nyc so classy man!!! but like it makes so much sense to me that he came from a rich family like he has such rich taste in everything it's been cultivated since he was young and he only does the crime because he can. KIND OF A SOCIOPATHIC MOVE ON HIS PART i guess but i mean. i don't think it's something he finds particularly thrilling, what he does is just a job for him, another way to pay the bills, etc.?? like he was never interested in the normal occupations and didn't know what else to do and so a life in crime (ok not crime but less than legal things) felt like a natural option for him, like he fell into it, never really something he was intrepid about or thought was morally bad

i feel like he started "conning" ppl in middle school, he figured out that he was smart and could figure things out that others couldn't, and he was also super quick / nimble with his hands so he could do all these sleight of hand tricks no one else could see through

coasted through high school, either left / ran away from home after that??? mb just left, running away seems a little dramatic??? told his parents he wanted to travel the world and such and he did that, only he traveled to every casino to count cards and he was GOOD at it

and ah the ever so popular "loaded die" origin story well here's mine he started getting into the dice games too (lmao i have no knowledge of these games whatsoever sorry) and since he was good at sleight of hand he would use these loaded die and etc BUT ppl got suspicious and they were onto him basically there was this chase scene where he's clutching his two die (probably grabbed them from the table when he saw the securitas coming) being chased by men in black with guns shooting at him and he drops one of the die and he gets away!!!! but he gets shot in the leg so he's like "ok mb i should quit this line of work"

either because of this or just sometime later he finds dom and dom's like "yo wanna go into ppl's dreams with me" and arthur's like wtf

or maybe dom's recruiting and arthur finds out about the job opportunity and is like "dreams i could dig it"

EITHER WAY it's not important how they meet just that they meet and their first point man is probably useless but arthur saves their ass and dom is like "i'm impressed" and keeps hiring him on jobs and therefore arthur is one of the most (if not THE ONLY) consistent member of the team

on a couple of jobs they need a forger someone directs them to eames bc he's the best in the business but omg arthur hates him so unprofessional all he does is flirt flirt with everyone wtf so annoying once he tried to sleep with the mark and it was disastrous

and idk man the rest is history there's not much else to say

i feel like it's kind of ironic he uses this loaded die for his totem bc he's the least sentimental person ever and the die is kind of representative of past failtures??? but he probs chose it bc it was one of the few real things he had on him (he travels light) (doesn't like the extra baggage) and also one of the few things he was certain of the weight of so

ARTHUR RLY LIKES FANCY STUFF he rly likes his suits and ties and sartorial things he likes good wines both classical and rap music (but like kanye rap, good rap) he likes leather and foie gras and fast cars and four star hotel rooms and european cities and i think you see where i'm going with this

I...... idk. we thought of how they got engaged and future children, but nothing beyond that. i know for a fact this would be pretty romantic though. like, it's one of those fantabulous places that most people dream of going probably. they spoil each other when it comes to things like that. sighing.

beach. :I ;;;; but then like, later on they remet outside of katsu's school. they were still having questionable feelings, so they kinda went with the flow of things and went on a lunch date. not really calling it one till later on. in wk... they met in the nurse's office.

so far, all we've got is the financial district, but that was only for like the day. time's about the same there as it is in the real world if i remember right? i'd have to rewatch [c] to confirm that, though. another place would probably be italy. i mean, katsu hasn't actually seen where arlo's from, despite the fact he throws italian all over the place and makes me cry a little bit about it.
