If there is one moment stuck in her mind, it's that one. 

So young, so impressionable, so naive to believe that promises are made to be kept instead of broken.

"I'll protect you," he said to her, "I'll always be here." 

She laughs as he tickles her sides. And as he holds out crumpled, hand picked flowers, she blushes and falls in love with him.

If there is another moment stuck in her mind, it's this one.

So young, so fragile, but so broken now. She knows better than to believe that just because she hooks her pink around someone's finger that they are bound to keep their promise. 

"What happened to protecting? What happened to to always being here?" 

She kicks his grave, betrayed. 

Then she leaves.
