joseph doesn’t know what these youngin’s are doing and prefers a wallet with long roll-out photos that reach the floor.

other kids have blankets and stuffed animals, but ever since his mother got rid of the photo by carelessly giving it to giorno and saying “here, this is your blood father”, giorno built up an entire daydream about the time his blood father would come to rescue him. He’d look at his starred shoulder in the mirror and be comforted by the fact that it matched the one in the photo.

the night before giorno met the gangster who’d save him from a horrible life, giorno had a dream where he met the man in the photo. he didn’t see his face, but he did feel his hand on top of his head, ruffling his hair.

the next day, the grass around the collapsed man grew faster, and Giorno’s stand had subconsciously awoken.
