She was finished with work for the day, and it was time to head home. Tonight, she’d decided to walk home instead of taking the bus. It was nice outside for once. Plus, people on the bus tended to be very strange.

Paige had opted for the scenic route, which took her through a particular neighborhood. The houses here were really pretty, and probably a bit on the pricier side to own or live in. Maybe she’d get there one day, but not today.

She hadn’t expected to encounter too many people while walking this route. This area was quiet. But she realized she was coming up beside a blond stranger on her side of the street, as she walked his way. 

Was he staring at her? Paige timidly glanced his way, barely meeting his gaze for a split second.

“Oh, no worries,” she answered. “I’m not from around here. This is just a shortcut to where I live. It does seem really quiet and subdued here though.”

Maybe it was about time Gyro started acting more civilized toward Diego. Even though he disliked the guy, and he still wasn’t completely thrilled upon learning that he and Franky were indeed a couple, he’d decided to clean up his act.

He had Nessa to thank for the emotional support, too. She really had been such a big help to him, in talking sense into him and helping him try to change his attitude.

Gyro and Nessa were on their way to Franky and Diego’s place for a small gathering. A cookout, actually. And before the meal, Gyro had suggested watching a film. After browsing the video store and finding an interesting new comedy release, he decided they’d be all set.

After all, there was nothing like a good comedy movie to break the ice. The title, Sausage Party, was even a pun. Gyro mainly expected awful puns and a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour. How bad could it really be?

The two arrived, and after Gyro parked his motorcycle nearby, he and Nessa made their way for the door.

“Here’s to hoping this goes okay,” he said to Nessa.

Violet City. A Poke Mart there was their target for their mission. And Ethyl wasn’t particularly looking forward to it.

She’d recently been recruited into Team Rocket, and assigned a partner to work with. Of course, since she hated working in teams, her commander had to stick her in one. How lame.

Diego was short in stature, but built well. His gaze was piercing and a bit on the cold side, and overall, he exuded a smug air. Nothing to really sneeze at, but maybe he’d prove to be useful for something. She liked to think that their commander had paired them together for a reason, perhaps seeing potential for them to work together. Not that she was thrilled about that. 

Why couldn’t she just do everything on her own, with her team of Pokemon? Was that not good enough?

They were just on the outskirts of the town, about to enter and locate the Poke Mart. For the most part, during the trip there, Ethyl had kept quiet, save for a few simple, few-word answers to some of Diego’s questions.

“Oh look, we’re here.” There was no enthusiasm to be found in her voice. Really, all she wanted was to get to the shop, quickly complete the objective, and then leave. Once their mission was finished, she could be alone again.

♥ What’s the WORST thing that has happened to you rp wise?

HOOO man that could be a many a things. i think the worst thing to happen was i got involved with people i shouldn’t have? and in return i ended up damning myself from an entire fandom. because of the friends i made when i was a wee little kid basically anybody who’s known me back in the day and are still in the dr oc fandom to this day hate me with such a passion it’s almost scary. granted i have apologized and admitted what i did wrong like 2 years ago yet they’re still very adamant on condemning me as a god damn plague on the fandom whenever i remotely try to remake my blog.

♦ What was a mildly annoying thing that has happened to you rp wise?

ah well, again, that could be a lot of things since im constantly in a state of salt. i guess the most annoying thing to happen to me was bad-dangan-ronpa. for those of you who don’t know, bad-dangan-ronpa is essentially a blog made to make fun of people’s arts, cosplays, and most importantly: ocs. everyone’s oc at one point or another was featured on it and they either cried and whined about it on their blog or took the initiative and asked them to take down the picture. what annoyed me to hell and back was the fact my art/ocs were featured on the blog a record 7 times. 2 of which i asked to take down. by the time the 5th one was posted i literally did not give a shit anymore lmao

She was pretty sure she’d lost them. She’d swam an awfully long distance to get away from the few mariners she’d pissed off. Surely, they were no longer in sight, but by now, she couldn’t help but feel slightly tired.

Ethyl wanted nothing more than to rest now, and when she thought she’d finally had the opportunity to do so, she found some poor bastard in the water. He was beside a ship. More than likely, he’d fallen off.

This wasn’t the ship she’d been swimming away from. It was a completely different make and build.

But perhaps, just for an extra measure of security, she could hide there from her pursuers. And even though she generally hated dealing with humans, she more than likely would need this guy’s help.

Ethyl swam to the guy, and from behind him, she wrapped her arms around his waist. She leaned forward until her mouth was right beside his ear.

“What’d you do, fall off or something?” she asked.

Geddie stood proudly, her posture as tall as she could make it, and her hands behind her back. All the while, she shot Diego a smug grin.

“Last night, when we found each other at the bar,” she replied. “I’ll admit, I probably also had too much to drink, and that betting something so drastic in the heat of the drunken moment was likely a poor choice. The bartender was sober, however, and I asked her to keep track. According to her, I won the bet.”

She then produced a small slip of paper from her pocket, complete with some scribblings related to their drunken bet, proof that Diego had lost, as well as the bartender’s signature. Once Diego had had a thorough enough look, Geddie shrugged a shoulder and withdrew the slip.

“As such, I believe this does entitle me to your services as ‘servant for the day.’ I can already tell you that my father will be pleased to have extra assistance around the house.”

Parties were pretty fun every once in a while. Partygoing with his girlfriend, even better.

It had been his suggestion of course--he knew a few people from the doctor’s office who were going, and he’d invited Nessa to come with him.

Everything had gone well so far--he and Nessa were having fun. They’d enjoyed some conversation with a few of Gyro’s friends, and the food and drinks weren’t bad, either.

When Nessa had to use the restroom, Gyro had volunteered to go with her. Boy, this place was packed. He’d been right by her side just a moment ago--where had she gone?

Stopping beside a closet, Gyro paused and searched the crowd surrounding him.

She couldn’t have gone far, but nobody around him resembled her in the slightest. Where was she?

Ethyl hadn’t slept so well in ages--not even since she’d worked in Boston. Things were different when she was with someone she actually cared about.

And when she’d only recently realized the intensity of this ‘care,’ and that maybe a better word, in this case, was ‘love.’

As much as she’d wished the night could have lasted, it was time to wake up and return to reality. She and Diego had a race to complete--together.

They two had reluctantly gotten out of bed, gotten dressed, and otherwise ready to return to the race. After having a quick meal at the inn, they’d gone to the stables for their horses.

Ethyl approached Model Citizen slowly, rubbing his nose affectionately. The horse seemed impatient and all too eager to hit the road again--to which Ethyl shook her head.

“I know,” she said to the horse. “The sooner we get out of here, the better.”

She grasped her horse’s reins and glanced over her shoulder at Diego, who was getting Silver Bullet ready. 

She cleared her throat.

“So--I’m ready when you are.”
