The concept of 'religion' tends to mystify me, attempting as it does to confine the broad spectrum of belief and knowledge into one list of rules that limit interaction with the forces beyond our control.
That said, I do appreciate ritual when constructed for an individual purpose rather than generalized into uselessness.

It's such a book. It's hard to recommend, just because it's SUCH an undertaking that I don't want anyone to read it who isn't completely committed to the experience, lest they hate me for encouraging them. But man, it has shaped so much of how I see and experience the world. I wrote my undergrad thesis on it, so I mean. I'm pretty enthusiastic.
