Back to school week- Hot for Teacher!
In many parts of the country, teachers and students are beginning to get back to school this week. In honor of all the faculty that helps mold the lives of our children with out looking like zombies, this post is for you!
Jess is a kindergarden teacher who wanted to brighten up her day to day routine with beauty items that could be layered from classroom to date night. She already had some solid products in her line up like Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and My Beauty Maven's fav- Nars The Multiple. The word "fresh" kept popping up in conversation and I immediately reached for Laura Mercier's Foundation Primer in Radiance. This universal tint gives the skin an invisible hydrated sheen that is the perfect foundation for any level of makeup application. It can be used on a daily basis under makeup but also alone on the weekends with a little mascara and gloss.
To take 'freshness' to a whole other level Jess took home a sample of Josie Maran's Argan Illuminizer. Everyone that I've introduced this to eventually buys it- even Jess' husband commented on her skin the day she tried it out. Not only does this illuminator go on flawlessly but it gives the skin a lit from within glow with out looking glittery.
Now that we had freshened up Jess' skin, we moved on to eyes. This is where I introduced some products that she had never used before and also some where we tweaked the application. Eye Primer is a super easy way to brighten up the eye area with out looking like you're trying too hard. It can be used alone (another multi-tasker!) or under eyeshadow. Laura Mercier's Eye Canvas is a great luxe version of eye primer but I really love Revlon's PhotoReady! It is under $10 and comes with a handy brush applicator.
Sometimes it's not the product you're using that is wrong for you but the way you're using it. Eyeliner usually falls into that category. Avril Lavigne eyes are so 2000-late y'all! Unless you're going for a smokey eye I would avoid going corner to corner with whatever liner you're using.
Jess exclaiming, "Oh my gosh! I LOVE eyeliner now!!!"
I love an eye palette- especially for those who don't have a ton of makeup. Everything you need is in one place and you can play with ways to apply the different shades. We were immediately drawn to Dior's Rosy Tan. I was so thrilled with how this pinky-chocolate-shimmery-taupe combo looked on Jess' eyes that I forgot to take pictures. Sorry! Dior's shadows have great texture and pigment that can easily be played up from day to night. If you're feeling particularly adventurous, try their shadows with a damp brush to really amplify the gorgeous colors and give a creamy finish.
We completed Jess' fresh new look with a pop of color from Stila's Convertible Color. This cream blush can be used on the cheeks as well as on the lips. I keep this two-in-one product is a staple in my makeup bag- and it lasts forever! Simply pat this creamy tint on your cheeks with your fingertips- you really can't mess up.
I gave this shopping excursion an A+!!! If you need help with a fresh start for the school year, be sure to come 'see' me on Facebook or contact My Beauty Maven to book your own personal shopping trip!
