If I had a nickel for every time the story is about a father who neglects his child in favour of his own personal projects, and then the kid gets ran over by a car, and then the father tries to recreate them as a robot, and then gets so distraught because the robot can never be the kid and so the robot gets abused, I'd have two nickels. Which is funny.
