Here's my yuu (not really, its complicated)based direbeast,Yulian!

Here's a couple of facts about this guy!

The reason he's a monkey is cuz I wanted to

He has fire, its just he's able to turn it off and on at will..or when he's angry and the fire colour is red

everyone finds him weird

really sharp teeth, and claws poor book 6 grim

I based him off a Indochinese rhesus macaque (to the best of my ability) because Macaques are one of the smartest monkey breeds

Talks in riddles, like never makes sense until last minute, he does this on purpose

star based motifs because yulian would be a other-worldly type direbeast

Unlike grim, Yuilan is great at his studies and carries the duo's grades as best he can

He enjoys mangos, LOVES mangos and will eat every part of it, much to Grims worry

I really liked this design so I might use it in the future

Drawing animals/animal-adjacent characters is usually wildly out of my comfort zone, so I kinda surprised myself with the dedication to make a nice entry for the DTIYS and ... I don't hate it! Hooray!

I had a few different ideas before I settled on making this variant—you don't wanna see my sketches—, including a full on swap AU with Grim, but I have other stuff to finish and it would've exceeded my current limits (Not very Chipi Chipi Chapa Chapa :()

While the sprite is only referenced in my style and not traced from Grim, I still wanted to add a few silly panels: Yuusagi being very excited about a tasty carrot (their version of Grim's tuna), the Long Ear Squad with Seyuu, and, most importantly, some wish fulfillment by some chomp chomps on Ace's hand. He deserves it (lovingly).

That ... should be all? I hope direbeast Yuusagi is to your liking! This ... counts as a direbeast, right? Can't have Yuusagi not be a bunny! 🐇🔥

Here is one of my OCs, Linke, as a direbeast! And congrats on 1000 followers! You absolutely deserve it!!

Yaps and facts below :

- I had some fun designing him, and while the colouring is odd I wanted to use his hair and eye colours rather than a simple black and white.

- I imagine he would have/wield light magic (like Silver and Kalim).

- If he was attending NRC he'd probably have to sit outside most classes and listen to the lecture since he's a big boy. But he's a very curious giant that is eager to learn ( ^ v ^ )

- I ended up primarily using a paintbrush for colouring, and I think it turned out well!

- I find it a bit funny how everyone who has posted so far went for smaller, cuter designs (they all look amazing by the way) and I ended up going for a more big and scary one.

- Also thank you Sera for extending the end date, I would not have made it otherwise and I would have been devestated T~T. You've made a great event and I really wanted to participate.
