It was time for Peggy to come in from the shadows. She wasn’t sure how, but she knew it was time. Not to mention she had been made and couldn’t exactly continue her mission. Then again it seemed as though her mission had failed. Hydra successfully infiltrated SHIELD and she couldn’t do anything to stop it. The guilt ate her up inside but also fueled her anger so she could keep pressing on.
After Pierce finally put two and two together, all he needed apparently was to catch her talking with Bucky, trying to get him out of whatever state Hydra put him in for him to do that, she fled. She didn’t go too far, just to Maria’s, who had been her handler for the past several years and helped in covering up the fact that Fury was still alive. It was actually Fury who talked her into stepping back into the light. She had fully planned on following Steve’s team covertly and helping to pick up any slack, it was a small team of 3 right now after all.
“Just because I chose not to go with Maria doesn’t mean that I’m now your pudding delivery service.” Peggy said, fiddling with said pudding cup so she could open it and hand it over to Fury, not noticing that Maria had returned until they both coughed, causing Peggy to look up. The shock allowing her to open the pudding cup in her hands. Sticking the spoon into the pudding she thrust it out to the side for Fury to take while keeping her eyes on the one person in the room that truly matter to her.
She locked eyes with Steve, and she felt like she lost the ability to breathe. This was the first time she had truly laid sights on him since he’d been found. She’d seen the news of course, seen the footage from the Battle of New York but it was nothing like seeing him face to face. Her guilt swirled up, making her want to either vomit or cry but she somehow managed to do neither. “Hello, Steve.” She said, a small smile on her lips.
