You’ve been sitting on the beach, alone, since you left Puppet’s home; you couldn’t stick around and force him to deal with the aftermath of when you do die. In the end, you almost changed your mind, but you’d rather die alone than have that impact on him.
By now, you’re cold, despite the setting sun’s still warming rays, and you look a little lost, but you stay sitting in the sand, watching the horizon tiredly. You think the sunset will be a fitting way to send yourself out.
There’s a splash, not far from where you sit, but you don’t notice until you hear the friendly voice. Looking up, you see Dirk, the merprince you befriended. The memory of his touch still lingers in the back of your mind but you have no reaction. You find yourself incapable of telling him to leave now that he’s here, because the next thing you know, he’s got an arm settled over you shoulder and you’ve never been so afraid of being alone.
The sun is sinking lower, and if you look up, you can see the stars starting to peek out. You distantly wonder if you’ll have a place among them. Dirk is speaking to you, so you lay your head against his shoulder and try to focus, but you find as you close your eyes, it gets quieter and he, as well as the horrorterrors, becomes harder to hear. You smile slightly. You can rest now, can’t you?
The last thing you take note of before slipping into the sweet safety of sleep is Dirk calling your name as his arms tighten around you.
@dirkcean I was just asking! With all the hullabelugh of the other night, i wanted to be sure that you and john werent on anyones behinds about anything.
