dirk not wanting to lose dave (again, because he takes his not knowing his legend older brother who was like a god to him as an obvious loss) so he installs a whole lot of cameras….around their living space….or wherever dave lives… so even if dirk does lose dave he still has footage of him to look at forever and whenever and it really scares him at the thought of losing those too so he manages to get them out out onto CDs or VHS tapes or whatever he can get.
dave notices some small noises (whirring, clicking, whenever it’s quiet enough for him to notice. because of his “training” by bro he has exceptional listening skills. especially with cameras.) and occasionally catches his eye on some light being reflected from random crevices around the space. he also happens to notice dirk letting his shit slip whenever dave gets too close to some particular crevices, some in the walls, some ion shelves or in cabinets or even underneath furniture.
but the thing that gets dave the most is when he’s about to do somethin pretty fucked up (probably to himself) and dirk is magically at his door, just casually happening to be around.
