Me: *doing some random shit*
Brain: You know your otp that broke up? Here's a sad fact about them.
Me:.
DirkJake
I love how there are those who say that Jake was all that was wrong in their relationship, and their there are those who say it is all Dirk’s fault, but what both sides don’t realize is that they both were at fault for how shitty their relationship was. They both have LITTLE to NO EXPERIENCE in interacting with people in manners aside from such that is considered “platonically,” or acquaintance-like. One lives on an island where MONSTERS roam wild. One lives in a post-apocalyptic reality in which he is stranded in the middle of the “ocean” and attacked by drones often.
Jake, in a sense, used him to try and cover up his often there lack of possible feelings of that matter, then ignored Dirk.
Dirk manipulated his surroundings and people to manage to convince Jake to start seeing him.
Was it a healthy relationship? No, not at all. They’re fucked up teenage boys playing a game with their lives, it would never be possible. (But really, all the alpha kids’ relationships were very unhealthy– but this is a tangent for another time.)
Is it toxic? Perhaps, but not as much as many people seem to deem it so, if at all.
