This morning I sat down at the breakfast table and opened the newspaper. As always the first part I read was the sport part. On the second page of it there was an article about Dirk Nowitzki honoring him for what he has achieved in general and especially last night. That's not that unusual. If we talk NBA at all here in Germany it mostly is connected to Dirk. At least in the mainstream media. What is unusual is the point when it was written. The redaction bureau closed around midnight. Midnight in Germany is something like 4pm or 5pm in the USA meaning the article was written and printed before the record breaking even took place! Just imagine that for any other kind of sport or any player. It's practically impossible! But not with Dirkules. Because Dirk did what my local newspaper and everyone else expected him to do. He scored 24 points, leading his Mavs to a glorious comeback and by this not only became the No 9 All-Time-Topscorer of the NBA but also the best player ever who wasn't born in the USA. Dirk, you are a legend, an incredible player and even better human being. You are one of the greatest sportsmen Germany has ever had! Heads off to that. Stay fit and healthy because I actually can't wait to watch you break more records!
