If Gwyn brings a toy, drops it, and looks at me expectantly, I pick it up, ask if she wants me to throw it. If she gets excited, I throw it.
If Gwyn holds the toy, we play tug/keep-away. If she tries to take it when I offer to throw, we play tug/keep-away.
Gwyn still has a few hangups about fetch and take/give from before, so I am trying to make fetch entirely a positive experience. After all, if she never fetched again, that would be fine. But she does want to, so we're just making sure it's all fun, no confusing bits.
You can also see how Gwyn gets a bit of energetic exercise when I am resting my back.
[Video Description: No sound. A hand holds a stuffed eyeball toy up in front of Guinevere, a red cocker spaniel, who sticks her tongue out in anticipation. The hand squeezes the toy, and Gwyn leaps sideways on the bed. She leaps sideways again, moving toward the ball throw path. The hand throws the ball off the bed. Gwyn bolts down, then after a moment, she returns with the ball.]
