Cinder has been sick & got xrays. They didn't see any obvious signs of cancer-no tumors/masses. What they did see though is a lot of damage to 1 of her lungs. They think maybe she's had chronic bronchitis/possibly secondary pneumonia. There was thick inflammation visible in her bronchi/bronchial tubes & instead of the lung being dark, they could see through it. The tubes are not supposed to be visible. Not only that, but in her lower left ribs, there is cartilage torn/damaged. That could have been caused from strain from coughing/sneezing or it could have been from some injury. We don't hear her cough often but she does sneeze often & has been puking a lot. I haven't seen her get really injured before, but something could have happened at any time. They said her pain seems to be pretty well controlled on the gabapentin, but that these conditions, combined w/ her bladder issues, fused spine, & her liver not functioning properly, it's very painful & not at all comfortable for her. So all that could explain the weight loss & not wanting to eat much, & the recent over grooming she's been doing. She has a lot of inflammation in her body. They want to try her on a steroid shot & an anti nausea shot. The steroid would not be w/out risk. It could damage her liver more & could speed up any conditions she has & I'd be saying goodbye to her sooner. But this is a damned if I do & damned if I don't situation. Either way, she has these conditions that won't go away. So I could do nothing & watch her quality of life diminish slowly & prolong her suffering, or I could try the steroid & give her some relief & a better quality of life before she dies. So we're going to try the shot. I've got to try to save her. If that doesn't work, then I'll let her go. I've had her 6 yrs & she's been fighting to live this whole time. I'm going to fight for her the best I can. I will not watch her starve to death or pull all her hair out from overgrooming or anything else that a pet shouldn't have to experience. So euthanasia is a possibility in the future. Just not sure if it's sooner or later. #cat #cats #egyptianmaumix #egyptianmau #disabledcats #sickcats #dyingcats #death #pets #pawteam https://www.instagram.com/p/BrtTpaLB_3o/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=qm4x4cbfb2t1
