hello, and welcome once again to the first edition of disabledtober!
first off, we're very grateful for the incredibly positive response we received, with dozens of people following this blog less than a day after its creation! without all of you, this event wouldn't be coming to life as smoothly as it is <3
i am pleased to announce that the prompts form is now open! it's completely anonymous, and it has a space for any feedback you deem necessary, which you can also send in the blog's askbox :)
feel free to fill the form as many times as you please, regardless of whether you are disabled or not!! it will be open until the end of july/beginning of august, so you have time to think about what you wish to write and/or read during this challenge

this challenge will last for the entire duration of october! the prompt list will come out at some point during the month of august, as soon as we have put it together, so you'll have the entirety of september to begin writing if you need extra time
while this event and its prompts will be focused on writing (both original stories and fanfiction), you can also fill the prompts with art, poetry, songs, and whatever your heart desires!! we encourage all kinds of creativity, so restraining people to one format would be counterproductive hah
this blog will also reblog disability-related writing and art advice, so stay tuned for that!! feel free to send any questions and suggestions into our askbox, and happy pride month<3
to answer your question, yes, they count as disabilities! as a general rule, most if not all disorders do :)
i am not fully sure i will add them as a prompt, though, as i'm aware ED mentions can be triggering to people with one. if anything, maybe as an alternative prompt? unless people really want them to be a main prompt - if many do, then i might change my mind
feel free to jump into the askbox and tell me what you think!!
while i have done my best to keep this blog fully accessible, i am aware i can always miss things. therefore if you notice any accessibility issues within this blog, whether it is the layout, the posts, or literally anything else, please let us know so we can fix it as soon as possible :)
What will you do if not much variety in access needs prompts are filled in
believe me, there is a lot of variety by now even though we don't even have 20 answers yet! and either way, we mods will ensure that the prompts are varied, even adding our own ideas if we deem necessary :)
don't worry, this event will have prompts of all kinds!! we want everyone to have fun after all <3
I have an ED (arfid) and i vote for having EDs as a main prompt. I'm so tired of people shitting on "picky eaters" (not the same thing I'm aware, but we get lumped together a lot of times and it's all about kiddie food and how can people be in a relationship with us, and grow up, and a lot of other derogatory comments. As if having an ED was something we do for shit and giggles). I'm so tired. More rep, please.
Thank you for organizing this 🙏
thank you for sharing your thoughts!! we will put this into consideration when making the final prompt list :)
Hello! For prompt entry, im just wondering whether neurodivergency counts as disability? Because certain types can be looked on as not having very much like... how do you say... issues? Even if they do. Just wondering, of course.
of course it counts!!! all types of disability, visible and invisible, mental and physical, are accepted as submissions for this blog :)
as the main moderator, i must say i will attempt to mostly add prompts for lesser known disabilities, in order to give them more representation. however neurodivergencies, including well-known and/or less severe ones, will be included too, so do not hesitate to include them when you fill the form!! and in the case anything you write down doesn't fit the challenge, it will simply not be added, no hard feelings at all <3
