Disaffected Youth

A reworking of Johnny's monologue as he speaks to us in footnote 24 on page 21. Inspired by Mediation #1, all of the words from the original text appear in this recreation, although this time they are put in a completely different order. The recreation starts from "What can I say..." and ends with "... the way I felt."

His analysis hardly altered it. My father died and I’m a sucker unmourned. And a Counselor followed nine years later. My crazy Shakespearean mother could never explain and my Counselor for Disaffected Youth still vanishes.

Every day passings that I’ve already lived for. The way I felt here still seems pretty dead on for when I was like ten. Which probably has everything to do with the fact that, well, you get the drift. Shadows at noon, goings unheralded, and this crap a counselor once told me; or put it more bluntly, “it reminds you of you.” Him. Don’t even disagree with either. Whatever reason… you couldn’t.

I said it better and really don’t need to retell this. Accepting a story, any, because of that light of progress. What I might add can almost say all that, despite the old stuff; like abandoned stuff, misplaced stuff, forgotten stuff.

As for Disaffected Youth…

I have never sseen a dead body in such a manner, but man it’s always chilling. I’m sure that was more traumatizing.

now that i think about it

i have no way of knowing that person was dead.

i mean yeah its guts were out, but one time my cousin got thrown from a car and his guts were all over the highway and they couldn't put them back in for four days because he wasn't stable enough what with his guts out and all, and he's still alive

so then again maybe i didn't see a dead body today

but at any rate, i still saw guts.
