So last Sunday I was schedule to direct another drag queen interview video. However, one of the queens had to reschedule so I found myself with a rare open afternoon. My daughter invited me to lunch at the Century City Mall. I was happy to spend time with her and very curious due to the fact that it had been years since I’d been to a mall. The only places I shop at are thrift stores or online. Everything here was incredibly expensive and there was even a Tesla showroom. On one hand it was fun because it was all very futuristic and I found myself feeling like I was in a Jetson’s cartoon. On the other hand there was barely anything I could afford or even if I could afford it, I wouldn’t want it at those prices. So, I said to my daughter, “How are these stores sustainable when people can barely afford to live here?” She responded with, “The gap between the rich and the poor is so wide the middle class is disappearing. The only way for businesses to survive is to cater to the rich because the rich are getting richer. Plus, studies show that people who aren’t rich are willing to save up their money to purchase things that will make them appear rich. And they are more likely to spend their money for this than on what some believe to be necessities.” It was shocking to hear, and my heart sank realizing she wasn’t wrong. It’s such a shame our culture has turned into this. I still have hope that within my lifetime things will change. But there’s no way it’s happening anytime soon or without some major consequences. Anyway, this is the Louie Vuitton Time Capsule. A small pop up museum within the mall. I’m not into name brands but it was interesting to see how it all began and the products they made since the 1800s. Plus, my daughter and I could stop laughing due to @Disasterina’s whispering jokes that mocked the bourgeois the entire time. 😂 #disappearingmiddleclass #richgettingricher #timetochange #louisvuitton #louisvuittontimecapsule
