there’s one thing that she knows, and it’s that jae won’t be happy when he finds out.  truthfully, jessie isn’t happy herself  -  in fact, she doesn’t usually cry but it feels like there’s a lump in her throat.  she’s not sure if it’s embarrassment, or shame, or sadness that’s eating away at her for allowing none other than jasper to spend the night at their apartment, but she’s feeling an overwhelming sense of dread.  right now, there’s no one that she wants more than her best friend.

right now though, jessie has to wait for him to open the door, for him to come home.  after all, there’s just been a heavy snow and everyone knows what it’s like in toronto in the winter.  she sighs, but when she finally hears the click of the lock, jessie turns her head towards the entryway of their apartment and waits for jae to show his face.

“     you’re late.     ”    jessie calls out dully, eyes pointing down at the floor and watching her cat roll around with one of his toys.    “     are the roads still bad?     ”
