Both Tristan and Oli were disturbed at Amber’s elimination episode, otherwise known as The Great Lake Brawl—the episode before Let it Rip.
Tristan was more disturbed because they were an egg child and the footage was uncensored. Oli got whiplash from it, even more so that episode 4 was missing from all streaming services.
Seriously, Irene was just brought back when Amber was caught impersonating her sister, just so Amber would be eliminated with NO VOTES against her while her sister proceeded to beat her so violently the bus driver had to stop her.
Why do you call it the episode we don’t talk about?
oh no, I don't call Amber's elimination episode the one we don't talk about, I call Let It Rip the episode we don't talk about. Mostly because I refuse to type out what you usually call it. I just refuse to.
Anyways Tris and Oli </3
bruh disaster camp is a fucking trainwreck on top of a plane crash site on top of a nuclear testing facility all at once.
So I finished a piece in class today, and now Storm is happy because she gets to read the full version. Here we go!
Amber’s Breakdown
Premise: Amber asks a producer to change the circumstances surrounding her elimination, but things don’t go well.
Setting: Week 3 of filming, day 2 / 2007
Warnings: Amber’s real name, transphobia, a censored F slur, all kinds of abuse, such as verbal, workplace, and physical abuse. Proceed with caution
“Excuse me sir, can we talk?”
Amber slowly opened the door to the producers’ office after knocking twice.
“What is it this time, Andrew?” one producer said, trying to hide the venom in his voice.
“I just wanted to ask you to remove the factors leading up to my elimination and replace it with something more…dignifying, for lack of a better word.”
Amber asked as politely as she could be, all the while hiding the terror she felt inside. “Sure, I want to avoid the Fart Episode, but I think losing my top is…excessive, to say the least.”
“Andrew, what part of excessive is you being exposed for impersonating Irene?” the producer asked. “You’re no woman, and everyone knows that, but they keep callin’ you one.”
Amber smiled nervously, trying to ignore her heart pounding. “Well, for starters, nobody wants to see me naked.” she told him.
“‘Course they do.”
“What?!”
At that point, Wesley had walked in as soon as he heard the sentence come out of the old guy’s mouth, absolutely horrified.
“Kids find nudity to be funny, and we need to find a way to make ‘em laugh and bring up the ratings.”
“But this season is fully scripted, and the only major complaint about the last season was the slower pacing. Here, the pacing is way too fast.” Amber explained, mentally facepalming at how stupid she felt.
“Let’s not get off-track here.” the producer told her. “You’re going to be eliminated that way, or if we’re being technical here, ‘expelled’.”
“I’m telling you, Mr. Riles, I don’t want millions of people to see me naked.”
Instead of arguing any further, Mr. Riles slapped her across the face. Hard.
Hard enough that she stumbled back so Wesley had to catch her. Everything seemed to hurt now, and all of that negativity Amber felt around Mr. Riles unmasked itself.
“First, you asked about your pay, now THIS?!” the older producer told her, progressively getting louder. “Stop being such an insecure little b**ch, and just do what the script says or else I WILL STOP PAYING YOU!!!”
Wesley gestured for Amber to get behind him as an effort to shield her from any further harm, and so she complied, feeling the burn of the slap on her face.
“Why are you defending this ***, Wesley? You don’t deserve him.”
Wesley just gently grabbed Amber by the hand and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
Amber could barely lift her head after what had happened.
* * *
Wesley felt his girlfriend’s body shake as she cried into his chest, completely shaken by what had just happened. No words came to mind, as per usual, but Wesley just held Amber close, stroking her hair as he did so.
“Wesley…” Amber croaked, her voice sounding exhausted now.
“Yeah?” he replied quietly, causing Ambi’s tired eyes to widen as far as she could manage.
“Did you just…never mind, why should I be surprised, you literally spoke when Clemmie was shot.” she told him, leaning into his chest, eyes half-closed. “I just wanted to ask if I’m worth it. Do you actually love me?”
With that, Wesley began to cry a bit. “Of course I do…” he answered. “Why would you even ask me that? I love you…and I always will, Ambrosia.”
“Hearing your voice makes me feel like I’m dating your sister, you know that, Corby?” Amber weakly smiled, putting her arms around him.
With that, the two of them chuckled before Amber suddenly stopped just to rest a little bit. She could barely keep her eyes open at that point.
The last thing she felt before actually falling asleep was being moved to the surface of the bunk, put under the blankets, and Wesley kissing her forehead goodnight.
For queer viewers, episode three of Disaster Camp was one of the most universally reviled if you don’t count the Fart Episode, since it was already banned from streaming.
This is due to Amber’s elimination, which, as you remember, was a very high level of fucked up (on a scale of such, how?)
Episode two has the least amount of criticism because Irene is the most hated female contestant in the series, and that was her elimination episode.
the scale is "huh... that kinda sucked" to "OH MY FUCKING GODS WHAT THE HELL?!"
Anyways so that's the episode that traumatized bts!Tris...
Amber, in the first few episodes of Disaster Camp was basically a punching bag.
Everyone called her by her real name (which has been muted in future episode runs), and made obviously scripted comments about her masculinity. (Ambi has a bit of body hair and she was very, very sweet, like Maddie)
Each attempt for anyone to call her by the correct name and pronouns were brushed off and played for laughs. Hell, Irene tearing open a seam in her face was played for laughs while Wesley was trying not to cry.
Yes, not only was transphobia involved, there was sexism too.
*shivers* oh poor amber, I love that girlie to death, she didn't deserve getting treated like that. Oh, and poor Wes too, I can't imagine how horrifying it'd be to see your own girlfriend getting a tear in her face from her shitty sister
Alongside that, fuck you Irene Auel, I know you have a redemption arc in the future (waaaay into the future) but still >:(
So the Pickle Milk Episode was about everyone drinking the Pickle Milk for immunity, then playing a game of hide and seek with Wesley as the seeker since he didn’t drink any of it.
Everyone was genuinely vomiting, which was a major factor in Trin v Quadball Studios. After the challenge, Wesley was eliminated on the spot because he didn’t even have a sip of the Pickle Milk.
No wonder Maddie was disqualified offscreen.
damn. I don't even know what to say about this specific episode at this point.
Finn discovered Disaster Camp after hearing a bunch of fart sounds from the other room. When he went into that room, Oliwia was sleeping on top of Aubrey and they were somehow watching the Fart Episode.
The Fart Episode is only available in physical media and on the internet.
please get this man some eye bleach.
Also, imagine his horror when he learns that that episode isn't even the worst that Disaster Camp has to offer.
Like he'll be like: how the fuck does it get any worse?!
And then they show him Amber's elimination. Or the Pickle Milk episode. Or just any episode of that damn season (like I don't even know everything that happened in that season or any season of Drama Camp, but Disaster Camp is just. A fucking train wreck)
What was the most awesome lore drop I have shared so far, unless it’s still Wesley playing the American National Anthem on a kazoo?
(phoenix is biroace)
(ah cool)
Mmh... hard to say.
Okay, well... aside from Wes playing the US National Anthem on a kazoo, it'd probably have to be... well, it's more cathartic, but the outcome of the lawsuit after Disaster Camp. Mostly because the led-poisoned boomers who were causing so much trouble to the cast got a massive bite in the ass from the bitch named karma.
