SHE IS DONE!
Back when I made this post about starting my omnissian axe project, now several years ago, I could never have imagined just *how* long it would take me to finish her.
But. She is done!
I might still do some extra weathering... but everything else is pretty much ready for Castlefest! I did it! With less than a week to spare, but I did it!
I'm so hype fr.

Today on Stupid Shit I Make Instead Of Finishing My Cosplay: Admech purity seal patch for my bag!

This was actually super fun to make? Zero regrets. I'm still contemplating whether or not to use a red lacquer paint on the seal portion tho. Patch tests looked great, and the finish would be very glossy and wax-like, but I'm a bit worried it might look messy and brush-strokey.
Anyway.
I kinda want to make more patches and silly decorations for my festival totebag, so if y'all have ideas for stuff that would work in combo with this one (and nicely fit with a techpriest cosplay, perhaps...) let me know!

If I ever make an improved version of this, I'm doing pleather trim and painting it silver myself, this stupid loincloth has been a nightmare to make and it's 100% the fault of that ridiculous metallic fabric.
BUT.
It is done. Loincloth finished. May I never have to repeat this ordeal.
Update on my little servo skull! He's painted now! Almost ready to become the belt buckle/cable holder he was always meant to be xD

I got tagged by @blood-on-the-phoenix-crown to show a current WIP! So, as we have just crossed the threshold of WIP Wednesday proper... Here's some updates on my projects!

I put my whole techpriest cosplay (so far) on my sewing mannequin, just to see how it looked. Not perfect, but it's so close to where I hoped to be for Castlefest that I almost can't believe I managed to get this far?
The three-lens goggles are the newest part I finished. They're just some bits I threw together, and the "held together with idle hope and welds so shitty my instructor would've cuffed me over the head" look was, let's say, only 60% or so on purpose? XD But the important part is that I can wear my prescription glasses underneath. So I can actually see through these! Not... well. But enough!
Some other updates:
The sewing café is closed for the summer, so I'm now on my own until halfway August for any further fabric endeavours. Will be missing the venerable Magi of the Sewing Machines as I may (or may not) try to make a caftan, and some pouches for my belt.
I also have a pile of nice merino wool in neon colours and QPP has promised to show me how to felt wool dreads for a dreadfall. So, potentially, another project!
I still need to finish the Omnissian Axe -it's pretty much all done, except that the handle of the axe still needs to be painted, and it's harder than you would think to find a suitable dark metallic paint. Note on that: Citadel Leadbelcher spray is NOT the right shade of metallic for this project. It's warm toned, like, there's almost a brown hue to it? Everyone recommends it in hobby spaces, but it's actually a really strange shade that doesn't harmonize well with cool-tone metals.
Gonna trial Vallejo Gunmetal and Army Painter Plate Mail Metal to see if those are at all usable. In the meantime, enjoy a tiny flat-lay of the axe parts ^^

Sharing some WIP because the lovely @clevermird tagged me (for which my thanks!)
I'm working hard to finish some more patches for my patch bag before Castlefest! I have two more days, can I finish at least one side of it?
This patch was done with carbon transfer (for reference: rub the back of an image with graphite, put it on the fabric graphite side down, trace the image with sufficient pressure to deposit a graphite imprint on the fabric) rather than a traditional stencil, and I'm surprised at how well that worked actually.

Praise the Omnissiah, I've finally made progress with my Tech-Priest axe build!
Far from perfect, but I'm pretty pleased with it nonetheless, seeing as it is my first prop in a very long time.
Materials were lasercut plywood, several layers of gesso primer, black gloss spraypaint, graphite powder, and Pentart Rub-On Pigments in Chrome and Gold (applied with Pentart transparent wax).
I intended to add progress pics under a cut, but despite multiple attempts at editing this post, Tumblr continued to fuck it up and spread the images randomly... So no progress pics, I can't be bothered to find out how to make this website work.
