It was a cool month for the Keys, but we made five design decisions for the house. The biggest was to repaint every room to reflect the sunrise. The second was to choose pink, not peach. We didn't want a Barbie house, but we should have gone all in early. It took five years, but we’re ready!

1. Repaint every room in Pink Ground like the living room to look more like one gigantic sunrise.
2. Paint the grey cabinets in Pink Ground. It will bring in more light. Don't confuse pink with peach.

3. Hang the gold mirror in the dining room to bring in more light. More sunrise. Also an mat for entry.

4. Update both bathrooms.

5. Repaint the blue-grey master bedroom as Pink Ground. Add the southwest abstract carpet now in the Media Room.
Repainting the blue-grey master bedroom as Pink Ground will make a more unified look from the living room, and vice versa. Also replacing the couch and area rug in two more years (7-year average).
Good morning sunrise! For our 5th anniversary in Key West, we painted our toenails ocean blue, like a mid-century modernist. I’m also growing a beard, as if stranded on the island. It’s a clean, breezy, and natural style, like 365 days of summer vacation. I call it tropical modern.

Motivated by tropical heat, sun, and sand, we also made a couple of new purchases this month. We replaced our 18-year-old air conditioner. We also bought our first doormat by Chilewich inspired by the sunrise. Both are good in all weather and essential to the tropics.
