Beautiful dischidia nummularia. Easy to propogate and soooo pretty.
How to propogate:
1. Cut beneath an air root (take a few leaves off so it has two air roots without leaves) 2. Take a cutting of approximately 10-15 cm. 3. Put into water 4. Be patient :)
One of this summers apartment plant additions is this #dischidianummularifoliaideaminubu or commonly known as the Dischodia ‘Jade Dragon’🐉 :: If I’m being honest I can’t really tell if it’s doing good or doing bad at the moment, it’s kinda just hanging out🤷🏻♀️. I haven’t noticed significant leaf lose or anything. Right now it’s living in an open hole basket with orchid bark. I water it in the shower letting water just run through it. For the time being it’s living pretty close to the humidifier. It’s also getting some pretty intense afternoon light which I would ideally like to fix but extra plant space isn’t running ramped around here so I might just trust it to adjust to its environment for now. Anyone else have those plants you’re not sure about? It’s really a shot in the dark when there isn’t too much info on a particular pants so you have to start the guessing game based off the characteristics of the plant itself. Because I had my old #dischidianummularia before the USDA took it away 😅 I knew at least the water habit of letting it run through was successful👯♀️ #plantsincolor (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0YpiuMgzxw/?igshid=9ky8m071gj7o
Well, it finally happened. The USDA finally came knocking to confiscate my Dischidia nummularia. I knew it was coming as many plant parents here on instagram we’re having similar experiences. It sucks that it is getting incinerated but I understand that it’s just the job of the USDA and if they are going through so much to collect the plants from this overseas seller then it’s for a good reason. The two agents that came on Thursday were incredibly sweet and sympathetic towards the whole situation. They let me snap some quick last photos before they took this beauty. It’s sad but at the end of the day it is what it is and we have responsibilities as plant lovers to abide by the rules to keep our environment safe. It’s one story I know I won’t forget! - Also logistics, no I don’t have to pay any fines I have no crime record (haha my mom made sure I asked that one 😂) They informed me that the blame is entirely on the seller for not filling out proper paperwork. I did purchase this from South Korea, a shop called Joinflora, through Etsy so I will be contacting Etsy to hear their take and if I will be refunded since the shop was shut down by the USDA. - My family members won’t stop calling me a plant smuggler now 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🌿😂 - • • • • • #apartmentbotanist #usda #Dischidianummularia #stringofnickels #plantcare #plantsofinstagram #etsy #green #greeninspiration #plantlover #plantcollection #houseplants #houseplantclub #iplanteven #botanicalpickmeup #urbanjunglebloggers #urbanjungle #hangingplants (at New York, New York)
