Discipline || Calliope and Caelik
With two easy swipes of her staff he were down on the ground. Caelik had potential and Calliope knew it, but she also knew that he were never going to there without external help. Maybe it was lack of motivation, not believing in himself enough, or just complete ignorance on what he needed to do, Calliope didn’t really care. All she was focused on today was creating another soldier with a developed skill set. It was Calliope’s belief that if they had enough of these trained soldiers, then they would be ready for anything, even if the case didn't really apply to him. And when she fought, whether it be teaching or in a real fight, she was completely focused on the task at hand.
The problem supernaturals were facing with their defences was the level of strategy knowledge that their fighters possessed. Sure each race of supernaturals knew how to attack humans with their unique powers, but there were some humans who believed. They could see what the others of their dull race could not. These “believers” were bittersweet for Calliope. They were smart, and although they were currently nothing, they had the potential to gather forces and become a threat. The positive to these believers was that it was finally a challenge; a change was stirring in Athoria. However, as soon as one of the human believers recognized it was a vampire, out came the holy water. That’s where Calliope’s solution came in.
The supernaturals needed to be smarter. They couldn’t keep attacking in the same ways they always have because now that some humans were starting to believe, they had started to protect against supernaturals. Each races attacks were becoming predictable. That’s why they needed to swap strategies. Every race has their own strengths and weaknesses and their choices are geared towards that, however, if say a phantom were to suddenly master the hunting techniques of an elf, it would be beneficial because its not what the believers would be expecting.
Not only would it be helpful to master the strengths of the other races, but also to be able to identify their weaknesses so that they could better defend one another when fighting side by side in battle. Calliope was aware that some were opposed to revealing their weaknesses in fear that the knowledge would be used against them, but it was something that she wasn’t going to bother worrying about. Even though Caelik and her were both elvish, their fighting styles were very different, and therefore her ideology still applied.
He were good by Calliope’s standards, at least for his age anyways. Still, he was an easy defeat and so there was much work to be done. That final blow with the staff had concluded the sparring portion of the day. “So what do you want to work on next? Archery, my favourite style dual weaponry, or the classic sword and shield?” She hoped Caelik would pick the second option. Hand to hand combat wouldn’t be bad either. “There’s also hand to hand combat. Or do you have a different suggestion?”
