Dear Abigail/saveyoursucculents,
I’ve had this jade plant for a good four months. One section of the plant has had raised bumps, and it’s possible the bumps are a recent development. I keep the plant inside and haven’t noticed any insects around.
Last 2 pictures: apart from a little bit of mishandling, the plant seems to be relatively healthy. Any idea what the bumps could be?
Bumps are usually a sign of pests or over-watering. You’ve said that you haven’t seen any bugs (and I’m assuming no spider webs?) so it’s probably a watering problem.
The scaring in photo 5 looks like it’s healed well. I’m more concerned with the discoloration I can see at the base of the stem in photo 5. Give it a gentile squeeze to see if it’s firm or mushy. Firm means there’s nothing to worry about, but mushy means it’s rotting. Rot is a bacterial infection that’s also caused by overwatering (or poor drainage).

How to water: Succulents should be watered whenever their soil has had a chance to go completely dry. (note: the surface will dry faster then the soil at the bottom of the pot. Make sure it has dried all the way through). Most soils dry in 5-7 days, but it varies based on pot size. Make sure the planter you chose has drainage holes, or else the water will be trapped and the soil will never dry. Don’t be stingy with your water! Pour it in until you see it coming out the drainage holes.
