Discovery Task 7

This was probably the toughest task, due to the fact that I was transcribing someone’s conversation. Making that into a nine panel comic was also difficult, since I had to make it seem like a real conversation. One tough representation to draw was laptops, because it’s a piece of metal. I tried to draw the three characters at angles to represent a camera moving from one place to the next. To keep the flow of the conversation normal, I wrote down what the three people said based on recorded audio, but even trying to make sense of what they said was difficult. Still, this was a fun project to complete.

Discovery Task 7: A Conversation

My group and I stumbled upon an interesting conversation near UCF’s student union at the Muslim Student Association (MSA) table. An older gentleman seemed elated to converse with MSA students about his experiences. Overall the conversation was pleasant to listen to and enjoyable to make into a comic. 

For this comic, I was weary due to not being able to depict myself. Instead, I was tasked with depicting others. I think my style in this comic reflects Guy Delisle’s in that the characters are cute representations of real people. I played with various perspectives to depict this conversation between an older man and a young UCF student. I used side profiles and zooms to gather more detail and to tell the story. Above all else, I find myself enjoying creating comics more and more with each assignment.
