2nd Post: ANALYSIS OF A WEB SOURCE
Title: The Wage Gap Between Latina Women and Men.
Link to Web Source: http://www.aauw.org/2015/10/08/pay-gap-for-latinas/
This blog summarizes how there is a wage gap between women and men by stating that women work just as hard as men, but that they get half the pay. The writer also mentions how education is another factor that contributes to the gender pay gap. Lastly, the blog focuses on the future economy and how Latinas are overall influential in the economy of the United States.
To begin with, the writer states that even with an equal amount of education from both parties (men and women), women are still not paid as much as they should be earning. The blog included a very interesting statistic that shocked me because it stated that “women are underpaid compared to men in nearly every job in food service, even after accounting for tip” ( 2015). This statistic comes to show how Latina women seem to always be discriminated when it comes to earning a pay because not even a local fast food restaurant pays them equal to men. Overall, this inequality in the wage gap demonstrates how society is constantly discriminating women due to their race and gender when they are underpaid in comparison to men.
Another interesting point from this blog is that the education level is mentioned. For instance, a college degree from a Latina does not prevent them from being underpaid. Even with an education, Latina women still get paid less than men (or other women of different races). The blog makes it clear that an educated Latina woman is not a good enough reason to get paid as much as men when the article reads “while more education helps increase women’s earnings, it still doesn’t close the gender pay gap. Hispanic women are paid less than white and Asian women are, even when they have the same educational credentials” (2015). In other words, hispanic women are discriminated even amongst other women with different ethnicities. Then, the questions rise: When will Latina women stop being discriminated? When will Latina women get the same pay as men or other women? Why are Latina women seen as less in society?
Lastly, the article states that Latinas are very influential in the United States’s economy. In other words, the population of Latinos is gradually increasing. Therefore, their voice will soon be heard. As a consequence, the writer is inferencing that some changes need to occur as soon as possible because the voices of Latinos are rising. The Presidential election is mentioned by the writer and he/she makes it clear that it is important for this type of wage discrimination to be addressed because the election is right around the corner and their votes will make a difference. For that reason, the writer is implying that their needs to be some law that ends this type of wage gap between Latina women and men: A law that protests the rights of the Latina women.
1) I agree that there is an obvious gender wage gap in the United States of America and this is an issue that needs to be resolved because it is not fair.
2) There is nothing that I disagree with. I am a strong believer in equality and I completely agree with what the writer wrote
3) Why has no one acted upon this issue if mostly everyone is aware of the income inequality between men and women?

You see, for years many Americans have associated the Confederate flag with racism. Edgerton finds this misconception to be unbelievable. It seems that just because racist organizations like the KKK and the CofCCuse the Confederate flag, it doesn’t mean that the flag…
