Here you are, Corvo, within the high walls of your enemy's stronghold. What an impressive sight you make on your way to face the Lord Regent. How will you end his reign, by blood or by truth?

Current Dishonored Thought(TM). The idea that after Jessamines death, Corvo and Emily never got to see her body, never got to attend the funeral. There is a closure neither of them ever got to feel.
They come back to the Tower, a shadow of its former self, and have to set about cleaning it up, taking care of corruption in the ranks. They stare at the Pavillion sometimes, see the body that laid there, the memorial stone that does now. They both are haunted by a ghost they never were given the chance to say goodbye to.
Thinking about them going down to the crypts, wherever it is they put the bodies of the fallen Empirical Leaders. They both just stand, hand in hand in front of her tomb and feel... hollow. Press free hands to cold stone and try to say goodbye in a way that matters to them but it's hard when you're last memory of her was wide-eyed and bleeding out. Having to move through grief in a different way, having to figure out what that means for them.
I think to really start to move on, Emily asks Corvo to hold their own funeral for her, before she's crowned. They take candles and a blanket out to the Pavillion in the dark of night. Maybe, if they feel it, they invite Samuel, Callista, Cecelia, and Geoff to sit with them for the first bit. Then they ask to be alone as the lights start to burn low. They tell Jessamine stories about their lives now- the good and the ugly. They cry because they miss her, and because so much has happened in the wake of her absence. They miss her. They love her. And when they wake up to the dawns light, having fallen asleep outside, there's something a little more healed.
They make it a tradition to do this on the day of her death every year after all the other formal celebrations. It's not perfect, and it doesn't replace what they missed, but it helps.
They could’ve been friends, in another timeline
This shit was fun as hell to make
