TMSM's Adventures in Florida Living ~ A Different View for Different Times
Happy Wednesday my friends! Since we talked last week, a lot has happened, not only with us, but in the world in general. When writing these weekly blogs, I always try to talk right from the heart and keep it real, and this week follows suit. Whether things are good or bad, we have each other to hash things out, so let’s get to it!
As you know, last week there was a horrible terrorist attack in San Bernardino California. Once again, the world sat in disbelief, watching our televisions and wondering what our world is coming to. Just like with a few weeks ago when the Paris attacks were on tv, my boys came in the room and started asking questions. How sad is it that we have to even have these conversations with our children? It’s heartbreaking. Nothing seems safe anymore, and that’s a bad feeling. Granted, that’s how these evil people want us to feel, so what do we do? Keep living. Keep enjoying the people and places you love. That’s what we’re trying to do. Even at our happy place.
We’ve been pretty busy and haven’t had much time for Disney. I know that Christmas is quickly coming up and before we know it, the festivities will be gone at Disney. A visit to the Magic Kingdom was decided upon for Saturday, but I can’t lie, we were a little nervous. The crowds were huge, and like we spoke about before, Disney would be a prime location for those out to hurt us to do some damage. I can’t even imagine. What’s sad is that when we got to the park, my kids asked me if it was safe. Why would they even have to worry? Well, that’s the world we live in sadly. The lines for the bag check were long, and I noticed extra security, police officers included. I didn’t mind waiting in line to have my purse checked though, because they are only doing it for the safety of guests. In the evening, we went over to the Contemporary and ate at the Contempo Cafe. It was Walt’s birthday, and they had special birthday cupcakes and a birthday card to sign, it was nice. After dinner we went back to the MK to watch Wishes, it was around 9:00 or so. To our surprise, the crowds to get in the park were enormous. Usually night time it’s a breeze to get in, but not on Saturday. Also surprising, were the amount of actual police officers on the scene. There were armed officers by security, by the boat dock, inside the gates, and there were even officers directing crowd traffic near the train station. At first I was nervous about that, but the boys asked if we needed to worry, and I explained that we were extra safe with the police there, and all is fine. The thoughts were in the back of my mind, but from what I can see, Disney is on top of things and they are taking guest safety very seriously. I’m really thankful for that. It was crowded but we had a decent and SAFE day.
The Christmas season is a time to reflect on family, friends and things we’re thankful for. It’s hard for some, as people also struggle this time of the year. I can’t help but think of the people who were involved in the attacks last week and their family members. My heart hurts for those people, and I pray for their healing. The world stinks sometimes, there are a lot of bad people out there. However, there is also a lot of good too. Believing in goodness in the hearts of people is something I refuse to give up on. Letting people know that you love and appreciate them is also key, we should never take each other for granted, at Christmas or any time of the year. Bad things happen, but we can learn from them and make efforts to be kind to each other and come together as a community. I know for me, I’m not only thankful for my family and friends, but also thankful for all our Main Streeters too. That being said… that’s it for this week’s update. Summer Study Update
Sorry for the lack of updates. Life got really crazy towards the end of June with packing and my course. I am happy to say I passed! Yay, Stats are over for now.
Most of you probably don't know this but last week I left on the greatest experience of my life. I am currently in California, taking an accelerated course in Hospitality, before jetting off to Florida to begin a work term at Walt Disney World. Most of the course work has been in class, so no studying has really occurred. I’ve also been super busy meeting new people and trying to enjoy California while I can. While I’ve tried to queue up lots of posts, I’ll probably run out at some point. I will be back to studying come September so expect some more study related posts then!

Some new WDW info and rumors
The new Frozen Summer at DHS includes an ice skating demonstration in Sound stage 1 (same building as the Darth Mall was this year)
it will have Frozen fireworks every night!
though you will not be able to meet Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, or Olaf at DHS, they are still exclusive to the princess fairytale hall
Rumor is is when the American Idol experience closes, they might have the whole venue closed for a few years
Seafood mac and cheese is new on the dinner menu at Columbia Harbour House...here's what DisneyFoodBlog.com had to say about it:
"it’s as though they’ve taken the standard Disney mac & cheese and added more shredded cheese to make it extra gooey. It’s so rich...I think this entree is well done, overall. There is enough seafood to have it with just about every bite if you want!"
