Mickey and the Roadster Racers theory

((So being the super curious toy associate that I am, I snuck a peek at some of the new Mickey and the Roadster Racer merch and noticed right away the cars the toons have had oddly numbered racer numbers.  Not your standard 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 type deal like I’d expect, but 28, 89, 3, 4, and 8.  It took me a bit but I think I have figured it out!

First is Mickey, #28.  As in 1928, the year he was animated!

Then we got Minnie, #89.  I believe this is a reference to 1989, the year she became super popular following the Totally Minnie special in 1988, which had introduced Russi Taylor as Minnie’s new official voice by giving her a major special.

Daisy is #4 cause I believe it may be a reference to 1940, the year she was first animated.

Donald is #3 cause I believe it may be a reference to Ducktales being the third animated Disney TV Series.

Same reason I believe Goofy being #8 is cause Goof Troop was the Eighth Disney animated TV series.

Also.  PLUTO IS THE PIT CREW.  HOW ADORABLE IS THAT?! ))

Donald supposed if anyone else had been in his shoes the last couple of months, they would have been terrified of going near the ocean again. He wondered if he was strange because he wasn't afraid – he couldn't think of anything that would kill his love of the sea, and apparently that included a mermaid who wasn't sure if she wanted to kiss him or eat him. He tried to put the latter notion out of his head – he was pretty sure she no longer wanted to eat him. Mostly sure. About 75%.

He rowed the small fishing boat until he could no longer see the island, and put the oars away. “All right, you little nutjob...” He muttered under his breath as he pulled out the small shining brooch from underneath his jacket. “I know you're out there.” He held his hand over the side, waited a minute, and then dropped the brooch. It floated on the edge of the water for several seconds before being snatched away by a dark shadow.

“Come out, you troublemaker!” He snapped, gripping the edge of the boat and leaning his head over the side. “Undo... whatever you did to me, right now!”

To be fair, she did come out. She just came out much faster than he expected, her arms instantly around his neck, her lips on his. Donald's brain faltered, then fizzed, his head swimming. When she finally let go, she smiled cheerfully at him. “Hello again, darling sailor.”

Donald needed a few more seconds to recover, and then pushed her off. “D-Don't you 'darling sailor' at me!” He shouted before undoing the clasp of his jacket and exposing his neck. “Explain this!” He pointed to the purple swirl just above his shoulder, which he certainly didn't have before.

“What about it?” Daisy asked, feigning innocence.

“Every time I tried to hug my sister, I gt shocked! I tried hugging Grandma, shock, I tried shaking the hands of my aunt, shock – I couldn't even high-five Webby without getting shocked!” With every indignant accusation, he jabbed his finger at the mark on his skin. “I was separated from my family for months, and now I can't even be with half of 'em! What did you do?!”

Daisy inspected her long, sharp nails. “I suppose I might have given you a tiny curse.”

Donald closed his eyes. “A tiny curse.” he repeated.

“Just so all the women on your island know you belong to me.”

A tense moment of silence passed between them, as Donald ran his fingers through his head-feathers. “Where do I even begin...” He muttered before clearing his throat. “Listen, I know mermaid culture is... weird, and different, but you need to learn to trust me. Women not related to me barely know I exist, for starters. And I promised you I'd come back, didn't I?” When Donald opened his eyes, he was surprised to see Daisy look a little sad. He'd never seen her that way before, but then again, he hadn't known her too long. “Hey... I keep my promises! … You didn't think I'd come back?”

“... I wanted to be sure.” Daisy said quietly, fingers absently playing with her hair. “You know I can't follow you back. You have a family there. What reason would you have to come back?”

“Aw, geez.” He studied her a moment longer. “... Okay, if we're going to have this conversation, we're gunna do it proper.” He reached out, and Daisy was startled to feel him trying to lift her into the boat, although she didn't fight it. “Here we go, hup-two.” It took some effort, but eventually he pulled her in, and she sat on his lap.

It was the first time he saw her whole body, and he was still thrown off by the fish half. Her scales were the same shade of violet as the streaks in her hair and intensity of her eyes. He held her sit up, ignoring the ocean water dripping off her. “Okay, now... when Donald Duck makes a promise, he never, ever breaks it. I've never done it before, and I don't plan on doing it now.”

Daisy leaned in, and Donald's heart jumped – even without the “magic eyes”, as he called them, she was so beautiful he would have cut out his organs if she asked. “Even though I tried to eat you?”

So much for putting that out of his mind. “Even so. I'll keep my word.”

“And you really will come to visit me?”

“As much as I can.”

She leaned in even closer, and Donald felt himself blushing. “And you won't let any other woman have you?”

“Uh... d-don't think that's going to be much of a problem... but, yes.” He swallowed, trying to regain control of the situation. “Now, please, undo the curse.”

Daisy mulled this over, “hmmm”ing a bit, but then moved to kiss his neck – Donald shivered, and felt the curse was gone. He sighed in relief. “Thank you.”

Daisy looked at him. “Are you going to leave now?”

Donald almost said yes, but then glanced at the sun, still high in the day. “Well... I think I've got some time to kill. Might as well spend it here.” He was rewarded with an extra intense cuddle, and thought now that he was 85% sure she wouldn't eat him anymore.

“Oh, my darling sailor,” Daisy cooed, petting his chest, “I'm so glad I get to keep your bones.”

… 65%.

Aww...it’ll happen. Are you gonna wait or cut it anyway?

I’m gunna wait. Most hair donations need 10-12 inches, and I’m almost there. It’s just if I get it cut at that length now, I’ll have... nothing left up here XD

and I have always believed that no matter what the story/AU, Daisy is the ultimate loving smothering mama.
