Riding the Disney Skyliner was definitely one of my new favorite things to do at Walt Disney World! This is the Epcot International Gateway Skyliner Station. It truly is ‘The Most Magical Flight On Earth!’ As someone who is afraid of heights, I felt super comfortable while onboard the Skyliner. Even when the Skyliner stopped, I didn’t freak out or get scared at all. Definitely check out the Disney Skyliner the next time you’re at Walt Disney World! #DisneySkyliner #Skyliner #Epcot #InternationalGateway #DisneyTransportation #WaltDisneyWorld #WDW #WDWTravel https://www.instagram.com/p/B7o_MZKHlmN/?igshid=f8lsg9029xzz
What a perfect morning for Disney’s Skyliner opening day! Almost a year of work and we’ve finally opened up for business! • #disneyskyliner #disneyworld #epcot (at Disney Skyliner) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2_yeqGj1zs/?igshid=15vwblwha7r8a

Wk 8: Disney Skyliner new transportation service at Walt Disney World
Disney is ever increasing their transport service to fit that of guest appreciation. During your flight, you will be suspended in the air for transport to different Disney Resorts and two theme parks. This new transportation system services Disney’s Pop Century/Art of Animation, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Epcot.
This new system gives you a bird’s eye view of the Walt Disney World Resort and there are some positives and negatives with the idea... the negatives are that there are decals on the gondolas that minimize the view on both sides of the window and it is more Disney film intellectual property (IP) which advertises the films that Disney has an extended amount of. The positives are that some of the gondolas aren’t blocking the view because some cabins have windows that are completely glass, and it is also a quick, efficient, creative, enjoyable, and extremely effective system to get you to where you need to go.
Cast Member previews have already begun days ago, and the official opening date is September 29, 2019, which is less than a week away!

Wk 10: Disney Skyliner Accident
The Disney Skyliner opened on September 29, 2019, with very mixed reviews. Most of them are positive, but some are negative. I believe it to be a great source of transportation to different resorts and parks.
However, there was a problem at the Riviera Resort station.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019, there were reports of a blue gondola cabin not moving, so the Cast Members closed the system. When they started the system back up again, there were four more cabins that were moving closer to the blue one. The blue cabin still did not move. The next event that occurs is the four cabins that were pressed up against each other to where the system line gets jammed.
Disney released in a statement Sunday that the Disney Skyliner will be closed until further notice for the investigation following the accident. There were also no reports of serious injuries or deaths, but there were still many people who waited 1-3 hours for the rescue squad to get families out of the gondolas by cherry pickers or by the Epcot line moving slowly, after getting the blue cabin off the Epcot/Riviera line. Paramedics and fire arrived on hand to assist guests of needed medical attention. In addition to the Skyliner accident after one week of opening, there was a small pile of shattered glass than came from the air-cooling/ventilation system when the cabins collided. This short 3-4 second clip shows the glass: https://twitter.com/Ada58974405/status/1180682003764649985

Wk 9: My Experience On The Disney Skyliner
I rode the Disney Skyliner during the very first day of operation and it was a very relaxing experience and I will tell you what it was like to ride in one of the gondola cabins.
Entering one of the cabins created by Doppelmayr (a company which specializes on gondola transportation) really was a lot better than I had originally expected. Some of the cabins had character wraps and some of them didn’t have wraps, which gave you a better bird’s eye view of the Walt Disney World Resort.
The ascent into the sky is a very quick one. It only takes a couple of seconds before you lift up into the air. The air ventilation/cooling system really worked. It is cooler in the cabin than it was outside, because there is air always flowing. Since it was opening day on September 29th, the lines at least stop once when you are riding, unless you are lucky enough to arrive at your destination before the system line stops. Even though the Skyliner stops, there is still a lot of wind, due to the fact that the day was very windy.
The Disney Skyliner turned out to be a massive success, and I believe Disney Imagineering has the potential to expand the system, in order to accommodate more easy theme park and resort access. The service was fast, including 5 minutes to arrive at each destination and loading time. If there is a long line, it won’t be long at all, because the line is constantly moving.
If you ever have the chance to experience “the most magical flight on earth“ for yourself, do it. It’s quiet and peaceful in the air, plus it holds up to 10 guests maximum per cabin. On top of all of that, it’s free.
The Disney Skyliner currently services Disney’s Pop Century/Art of Animation Resorts, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and the new DVC resort opening at the end of 2019, Disney’s Riviera Resort.
Below is a video preview of the Hollywood Studios line and was filmed by me:
