Princess Facts! - Rapunzel
“i am the lost princess... aren’t I?”
Rapunzel is the main character from Disney’s 2010 animated film Tangled (And one of my favorite Princesses). She spends most of her life trapped in a tower with her chameleon friend Pascal, she is 18 years old, German and is one of only four Princesses to have both a mother and father.
She is based, however surprisingly loosely off the German fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm and is the tenth official Disney Princess but was the first CGI-animated Princess.
Rapunzel has long blonde Magical hair, with the power to heal, and keep people young. She gained these powers when her mother drinks a medicine which has had a magical flower boiled into it. They celebrate this birth by releasing a floating lantern into the sky.
As a baby, Rapunzel was captured by Mother Gothel, a selfish woman who wanted to use Rapunzel’s magical hair to keep herself young forever. This caused the kingdom to search far and wide for Rapunzel, however Mother Gothel had hidden her deep in the forest in a tower, and no one could find Rapunzel. Each year on Rapunzel’s Birthday, the kingdom released thousands of lanterns in hopes that the princess will return, which turns out to be a success.
Rapunzel is an intelligent, curious and out going Princess with fair skin, rosy cheeks and of course, long silky blonde hair. Her prince is Eugene Fitzherbert.
In Walt Disney World Resort, Rapunzel can be found in the Magic Kingdom at the Princess Fairytale Hall for meets-and-greets, and makes daily appearances during Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire, as well as the Festival of Fantasy.
On October 2, 2011, and official coronation ceremony for Rapunzel’s induction to the Princess line-up was held in London. Thousands of fans and the other (then nine) official members of the Disney Princess Royal Court had the honor of crowning Rapunzel.
Rapunzel Trivia:
Rapunzel was originally going to be voice by Broadway actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth.
Special software was used to animate Rapunzel’s hair, because no one had ever animated that much hair before.
Rapunzel’s hair is approximately 70 feet long and holds about 100,00 stands.
Rapunzel hates wearing shoes, and she is barefoot underneath her wedding dress.
Rapunzel’s favorite food is hazelnut soup.
