Saturday Movie update: Dirty tricks ahoy! Well, the Stop Work order for our building included all 3 floors on our side of the building, but that didn't stop the LL from starting construction on the empty top floor this morning bright and early. He had already started demolition on that unit in October when the tenants moved out, but DBI made him stop because of various hazards, including lead paint and the fact that ripping out walls might damage the occupied unit below. Of course, the Department of Building Inspection is closed on Saturday, so he wants to get away with what he can over the weekend. I heard the construction about 9:30 a.m., but our neighbors said he started about 7. I called the police, who told me to call DBI, whose web site told me to call 311, who told me to call the police. They sent someone out, and they waited until the workers packed up their gear and left. It's not over till it's over. The new chapter has started with dirty tricks, which is not surprising. Meanwhile, our last remaining longtime-tenant neighbors moved out this morning, with a buyout big enough to put a down payment on a house large enough for all nine of them. Keep rooting for us!

Big week here at Tarin Towers HQ. I launched my new TinyLetter Friday morning (sign up!). I revamped my other main tumblr and renamed it "Displacement Blues" as well. I also updated my About Tarin Towers page. And I posted my first major dispatch about my already-yearlong housing drama on Medium.
In the middle of the most stressful move of my life, yes, I have found time to write!
