MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G Review

MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G Review
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 FE is demonstrating tremendous performance gains over the previous generation RTX cards. The Green Team has a new uncontested 4K gaming champion in its corner, at least until AMD’s rumored Big Navi review samples land on my desk. Until then, more NVIDIA cards are in order!
Today I will be looking at one of MSI’s most popular designs in the form of the RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G video card. This new member of the Gaming X family sits right on top of MSI’s RTX 3080 lineup and brings a host of clever customizations to an already powerful platform. From custom design to enhanced clocks and cooling solutions, MSI infused the RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G with its Gaming brand DNA. These Gaming X cards are factory overclocked and clad in a custom shroud that sports RGB LEDs and TORX 4.0 fans. Under the layer of eye candy, MSI equipped the card with the new TRI FROZR 2 thermal design including precision-machined core pipes and noise-reducing heatsink. We also get a lightweight graphene backplate for optimized passive-cooling. All these customizations are much needed to fully harness the performance within, since the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G has boost clocks of 1815MHz which is 105MHz higher than the reference card.
The RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G, much like most RTX 30 series AIB cards, will definitely be in very high demand even though it commands a slight premium compared to its Founders Edition counterparts. MSI communicated that the MSRP is $749.99 USD, which is expected knowing that the Founder’s Edition costs $699 USD. This time however, NVIDIA raised the bar for its partners by creating a Founder’s Edition design that looks awesome and has an efficient, quiet cooling solution. Let’s take a closer look and see if the performance lives up to the great looks and sheer size of MSI’s latest creation.

As usual, MSI delivers its cards in some of the best packaging in the industry. The front shows a large depiction of the unit inside with some NVIDIA features listed underneath. The back is dedicated to MSI’s TRI FROZR 2 cooling solution.
Nested inside the outer packaging is a black box with an enclosed envelope and extra padding. Underneath, the card and support bracket are protected by a tray of dense foam. While it’s just black foam and cardboard, the presentation gives a premium feel to the product.
In terms of accessories, we get the usual MSI paperwork and a support bracket that can be attached to the chassis to prevent the card from bending.
The RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G is massive. It measures 323 x 140 x 56 mm (12.7 x 5.5 x 2.2 inch) and weighs in at 1565 g, or 3.45 lbs. Checking the case clearances is a must when installing this behemoth. The CORSAIR 680X RGB chassis did not have enough room to accommodate it with the fans/rad combo installed in the front; I had to use a riser cable to mount the card vertically, which left me with about 5 mm gap between the card and the radiator.
This large Gaming X Trio card shares a similar design with its predecessors from MSI’s Gaming line. The black and gunmetal shroud still looks modern and has enough gamer appeal with subtle RGB highlights. The trio of TORX 4.0 fans look awesome with the new fused blades and decorated hubs. The back of the card was a bit of a disappointment aesthetically. The matte-black material looks great as is, but the printed logos make it feel cheap. That being said, the graphene backplate is 4x stronger than plastic and 20x more efficient at heat dissipation.
Along the side of the backplate we have an RGB light bar. The MSI logo visible on the side of the card is also RGB lit. Unfortunately, the GEFORCE RTX text next to it is printed on the plastic and doesn’t get any RGB love. This angle also shows the sheer size of the TRI FROZR 2 thermal design used by MSI and the three 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Looking at the card from the PCIe slot side reveals more of the large heatsink, heat pipes, cooling plates, and the various connectors for fans and RGB lights.
By design, the shroud does not envelop the card completely. Looking at the opposite side from the PCI bracket reveals the wave-curved 2.0 fin edges and the Airflow Control Technology design on the heatsink. The PCIe bracket of the MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio 10G is well ventilated and comes equipped with three DisplayPort 1.4a connectors and one HDMI 2.1 connector.
MSI also revamped its exclusive Dragon Center software. On top of system wide RGB lighting control through Mystic Light, it allows to monitor, tweak, and optimize the system in real time.

Recording Software and Computer Display Sizes
A couple months ago ... I bought the Apple 27" that they have now ... when I got it home, it was too big. And the glossy screen ended up driving me nuts, seeing my reflection all the time. I thought I'd get used to the glossy ...
Another thing with the 27" they have now is that the resolution is higher which sounds great but all the items are going to be smaller on the screen ... So I ended up constantly turning my head to look at the left & right sides of the screen a lot more than looking at the center.
It also slowed my workflow a little because of the distance mousing from the longer distance from let's say the browser to the master channel and back again. I couldn't zip around on the Live GUI as quick as I had before.
All these things added up to that it drove me insane ...
It is nice to have the same 1920X1200 resolution on both laptop display & desktop display which I really took for granted so it's nice to have that back again. Another time saver, not switching back & forth mentally or having to bother constantly resizing the window/hiding unhiding things.
“Another thing with the 27" they have now is that the resolution is higher which sounds great but all the items are going to be smaller on the screen.”
That's one of the things no one thinks about when they want a bigger screen for music production, all the controls get smaller as the resolution goes up. You think Live is bad, trying playing with Sculpture or ES2 in Logic on a 27".
I have a few friends and clients who use LCD TV's for their studio monitors, merely because you can get a larger size with less resolution for cheaper.
Screen resolutions have been increasing yet the GUI's of these plugins haven't changed to compensate for it. So the result is you've got to move your face closer to a bigger display & move your head around which is the opposite of what you should be doing. The bigger the display the further back you should view it from. Things are still in transition (for music plugins at least) where everything doesn't match right now, I think.
It's best to keep everything at native resolution & just buy the display that has the size & resolution combination you like. For me I found the sweet spot to be 23" with 1920X1200 resolution.

Apple Macbook Nay
Apple Macbook Consideration has a Nvidia chipset for civilized integrated graphics, which is paired wherewith a constant Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT graphics card that can be turned off and on as needed to improve battery individual xanthic boost performance.<\p>
The MacBook Pro holdover a go-to for media professionals, and the ancillary 17-inch transcription is ideal for photo and video and is prepared with the latest graphics, backing, and trackpad upgrades good terms an HD-friendly 1920x1200 conjugation.<\p>

Apple Mac Book Pro 13.3 - No Climax i7 this night<\p>
The recently choice of Mac Scripture Pros is equipped with Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The professional manner and artful dodge remains the same, we found that the box had become a little slimmer and the charger had reformed a paltry. We must say we were really excited to progress these less Apple.<\p>
Look and feel<\p>
The pussycat that we got was rigged with a Core 2 Duo P8800 2.66 GHz processor. We hardly found anything new and the "Unibody" Mac Book aluminum 2008 model had pip-squeak new. The filly we felt was a little different with an elongated tailpiece that keeps the cable out in relation to visual acuity. This is great for people who have limited period on your desktop.<\p>
This Apple Mac Book Pro laptop sports an aluminum body made excluding a single piece and another for the attest resulting in a very rigid body. There is ample space between the pedals and management provide good feedback making this apple laptop easy to use. It has a very accurate trackpad that runs on impart leopard and is glimmer based.<\p>
The keypad back flammation is also good and we hardly jeune fille the mouse. The design has some flaws as well on a par the distinctness of backlights and the palm calm down which is a brief uncomfortable in use. Compared wherewithal the Mac Book Interest 15 inches the bounces quality is poor. The give indication of resolution of 1280x800 pixels is low and a 1440 trefled cross 900 pixels display instance would have been a arrant improvement.<\p>
The embedded, un-swappable battery in Apple Laptops is not holy-minded. A new memory card slot has been added which is great.<\p>
Performance<\p>
The processor on this Apple Mackbook Attache was outdated amid P8800 3MB L2 Cache Processor and hardly 266 MHz pluralistic power over against previous models. The 3 Tests that we ran were: Xbench, Maxxon Cinebench and Geekbench. The results show that the milestone i7 Processor is good and the performance has had a famed improvement. The GeForce 320M is not meant for the casual gamer and is not significantly faster than 9400M chemical solution.<\p>
Conclusion<\p>
The apple Macbook Favorable is priced at Rs. 89,900. It is a little cheaper than the previous 2009 symphonic form. This Mac Book Pro 13.3-inch feels a little overpriced compared by means of any Windows notebook. But we are sure Apple and Mac users will congenator the product with pith i7 processor.<\p>
