Got assigned my dissertation supervisor. It’s the guy who made a bar graph demonstrating how I overuse body descriptions (eyes, blinking, smiling, hands, teeth, stuff like that)
Like, this is how I describe how people are feeling. I’m not going to tell you dude is fighting to hold it together, I’m going to tell you he’s gritting his teeth and staring at his shoes.
Why do I get stuck with the tutor whose personal preferences clash with my personal style? Am I expected to tailor my writing to his sensibilities or will I just have to look at bar graphs all summer of how many more times I used the word ‘eyes’ than ‘book x’ or ‘book y’ did?
